The pulp is white, tender, medium-dense, fine-grained structure, semi-oily, juicy, sweet and sour taste, medium aroma. Tasting taste assessment on a 5-point scale is 4.0 points. The attractiveness of the appearance is estimated at 4.2 - 4.3 points. By chemical composition, the fruits contain: the sum of sugars (8.5%), dry matter (16.0%), acids (0.3%).

In terms of ripening of fruits, the Cathedral pear belongs to the middle-summer varieties (the second half of August), the fruits are stored for no more than 10 - 12 days. The level of fruit transportability is average. A variety for table use, well suited for processing into dried fruits and making compotes.

This pear is fast-growing and bears fruit annually. The average yield is 85 c / ha. Over the years of variety testing (5 years), the average yield reached 136.5 c / ha (higher than the control variety).

Winter hardiness is high. In the harsh winter period of 1978 - 1979. freezing reached 1.0 - 1.5 points. The variety is not prone to scab.

The obvious advantages of the Cathedral pear include: high winter hardiness, resistance to scab, early maturity, annual fruiting, good yields.

The disadvantages include not too large fruit size (medium and below average), as well as a too short storage period for the mid-summer variety.

Good grade. Everything is as in the description. Early into fruiting, fruits annually. Even if the frost has passed and there are no pears on the rest.

One of the most realistic summer pears in the Moscow region. The same Chizhovskaya, somewhere gives, somewhere gives poorly. The cathedral always gives. The taste is average, a little dry, but it is there. As a separate tree I would not recommend, but to graft 2 cuttings into the skeletal branches of the same Chizhovskaya, that's it. By the way, my cathedral vaccination gave pears for 2 years. Rapidity, what you need.
