Tomato variety Altai Masterpiece

Altai Tomato Masterpiece (referred to as “Masterpiece” in the catalog of the Altai Seeds Company) is a significant achievement of Siberian breeders. Bred at a variety testing station in Barnaul. Currently, the variety is included in the state register of the Russian Federation and is recommended for cultivation in personal subsidiary farms, both in the open field and under film shelters. As a result of painstaking work, Siberians managed to obtain a tomato variety that is distinguished by persistent immunity to a wide range of viral and fungal diseases, as well as high plasticity, that is, the ability to quickly adapt to changing weather conditions.

Variety characteristics

Tomatoes Altai Masterpiece in terms of ripening are mid-ripening - the fruits ripen 90-110 days after germination.

The height of a plant in open ground conditions varies from 1.5 to 1.7 meters, and in greenhouses it reaches 1.8 meters or more.

Fruits are deep red, flat-round, with pronounced ribs at the base of the peduncle. Subject to the recommended agricultural practices, they reach a weight of 300 g or more (specimens weighing about 500 g were obtained in tests). The pulp of the fruit is juicy, fleshy, excellent sour-sweet taste.

Tomatoes are distinguished by their increased resistance to cracking and an attractive presentation, suitable for transportation.

The fruits are used for fresh consumption, as well as for processing in order to obtain tomato juice, making ketchup and sauces.

Test tests in the open field have shown that up to 4.5 kg of marketable products can be obtained from one plant during the growing season (even more in greenhouses).

Recommendations for cultivation agrotechnology

  • Sowing seeds: 2 months before the intended planting in the ground. Diving at the stage of the 1st pair of true leaves.
  • Seedling rate: 2-3 plants (when formed in 2 stems) or up to 4-5 (if in 1 stem) per 1 m².
  • A garter to the supports is required.

  • Bush formation: in 1 or 2 stems, as well as obligatory pinching.
  • Soil: as for most varietal tomatoes, when growing an Altai Masterpiece tomato, a fertile, structured soil with a neutral or slightly acidic soil solution is needed. Soil preparation must begin in the fall, with the introduction of humus and superphosphate.
  • Top dressing with the main nutrients: during the growing season, fertilizing with phosphorus-potassium fertilizer mixtures is carried out combined with irrigation. If necessary, it is permissible to apply nitrogen fertilizers, but one should not forget that their abuse stimulates the active growth of stepchildren to the detriment of fruiting (plants "fatten").
  • Top dressing with microelements: for normal development and high yields, it is necessary 1-2 times per season to carry out foliar processing of tomatoes with a complex solution of microelements containing, in particular, boron and molybdenum salts.
  • Disease prevention: when cold and wet weather sets in, it is recommended to spray with chemicals to combat late blight. This is especially true during the period of drying out of potato stalks, which is often a source of fungal diseases.
  • Other: about a month before the end of the use of the plantation, the fruit-bearing lash is pinched.

The originator of the Altayskiy Shedevr variety is the Demetra-Siberia agrofirm, and the main seed producers are Aelita, Zolotoy Altai, and Euro-seeds.
