Cucumber variety Gunnar (F1)
Gunnar is a new early ripening cucumber hybrid developed by breeders of the Dutch company Enza Zaden Beheer B.V., Enkhuizen. From germination to fruiting, 38 - 45 days pass. In 2014, the variety was included in the state register of the Russian Federation for the Central and Central Chernozem regions. Designed for growing in film and glass greenhouses.
Parthenocarpic variety (does not require bee pollination), with high vigor. Suitable for growing in spring-summer and summer-autumn rotation.
Plants are vigorous, open type, with short lateral shoots, indeterminate (the growth of the main stem is not limited by the flower cluster), female flowering type. The leaves are green, powerful. In one leaf sinus, 2 - 4 ovaries are formed.
The Gunnar cucumber plant is led into one stem. In the first 5 - 6 leaf sinuses, all ovaries and shoots are removed (blinding is carried out); in cloudy weather, the first 8 sinuses are blinded. Further, only the ovaries are left and all lateral shoots are removed. Then the stem is wrapped around a horizontal trellis (height about 2.2 meters) and pinch the growth point behind 3 - 5 leaves. The lower leaves are removed as they age, in the morning. The optimal number of fruits simultaneously poured on the plant is 3 - 5 pcs. In the first 15 days, you should pick the smaller fruits. Under favorable conditions for growth, the crop is harvested 3-4 times a week, and with abundant harvests - every day. Subject to optimal agricultural techniques, the following harvests can be achieved from the Gunnar variety: in the spring-summer turnover - from 18 to 22 kg / sq. Meter, in the summer-autumn turnover - from 9 to 12 kg / sq. Meter.
Fruits are cylindrical, medium tuberous, 12 - 14 cm long, weighing 80 - 120 grams. The skin is dark green, without stripes. Frequent pubescence. The thorns are white. The pulp is sweetish. Tasting taste score is very high - 4.9 - 5 points. The marketable yield is 20.8 kg / m2, which is 0.8 kg / m2 higher than the standard Tatiana variety. The marketable yield in glass unheated greenhouses is 8.9 kg / m2, which is 2.1 kg / m2 higher than the standard Gambit variety. The output of marketable fruits is 100%.
Fruiting is abundant in the early period and throughout the season. In this regard, an increased amount of mineral fertilizers is required.
This hybrid is characterized by high resistance to brown spot (cladosporium), moderate resistance to cucumber mosaic virus, powdery mildew and cucumber vein yellowing virus. When outgrowing, the fruit does not take a barrel shape. The variety is hardy against unfavorable environmental conditions, and is also able to adapt to high concentrations of salts in the soil - this allows it to be cultivated in areas with increased soil salinity.

Advantages of Gunnar cucumber: early ripeness, high yield, transportability, keeping quality.
Among the minuses: the high price of seeds, insufficient resistance to downy mildew.
