Gift, or Gift 2500, - an old variety of White cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. Capitata), medium late ripening. Bred by employees of the All-Russian Research Institute of Selection and Seed Growing of Vegetable Crops (VNIISSOK settlement). Included in the state register of the Russian Federation in 1961. Approved for use in all regions of Russia. This cabbage is suitable for commercial production.
From the emergence of mass shoots to the onset of technical ripeness, 115 - 135 days pass. Harvesting is carried out from August 20 to September 15.
The leaf rosette is half-raised and has an average size. Leaves are wrinkled, oval to rounded, medium-sized, gray-green in color with a waxy bloom of medium to strong intensity; the edge of the leaf is slightly wavy. The head of cabbage is very dense, round or flat-round, of medium size, greenish-white in the cut, weighing 2.5 - 4.5 kg. The inner stump, like the inner one, has an average length (16 - 20 cm). The yield of marketable heads of cabbage is 580 - 910 c / ha, maximum - 1000 c / ha, per square meter - 9 - 10 kg. Marketability reaches 99%.
A universal variety - it is recommended to use it both fresh and for fermentation. The chemical composition is as follows: dry matter 8.2 - 10.5%, total sugar - 4.7 - 6.2%, ascorbic acid 26 - 41 mg / 100 g of raw material. While maintaining optimal conditions, this cabbage is stored for 6 - 7 months (until February - March).

I am not a fan of cabbage, I grow it only in small quantities. I tried various varieties, but I liked this one for some of its advantages. Does not require additional care, I just water and spray from pests. Seedlings tolerate summer frosts well and are not at all capricious to the soil. She is ready to grow even where there is clay. The harvest is very pleasing; by the end of the harvest, large heads of cabbage are formed, about 5 kilograms. And also it is stored with me longer than other tried varieties. I always plant seedlings at the beginning of May and in August I can try the first harvest.
