Potato variety Lasunok

Lasunok, or Lasunak (translated from Belarusian - "delicacy") is an old, but not losing its popularity potato variety (Solanum tuberosum) with a medium late ripening period. Bred by the staff of the "Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Potato and Fruit and Vegetable Growing". Introduced into the State Register of Plants of the Russian Federation and the State Register of the Republic of Belarus in 1988. Zoned in five regions of Russia: Central, North-West, North-Caucasian, Volgo-Vyatka and Central black earth.

Potato variety Lasunok

Lasunok is traditionally considered one of the most delicious varieties of Belarusian selection. But the taste is highly dependent on the type of soil. Potatoes grown on sandy soil have the best taste.

The period from germination to harvesting varies greatly depending on the climate and ranges from 80 to 120 days.

Plants are tall, erect, powerful. Flowers are white. The flowering period is long. Planting density for commercial purposes is 50 - 55 thousand tubers / ha, on seed plots - 60 - 65 thousand tubers / ha.

Tubers are large in size (there are practically no small ones), rounded oval, with creamy pulp. The peel is mesh, light yellow in color. The eyes are medium in size. The depth of the eyes is average. The mass of commercial tubers is 150 - 200 grams. The yield indicator is up to 62 t / ha. The average number of tubers in a nest is 10 - 12 pieces.

Potato variety Lasunok

The variety is universal, with high taste properties, belongs to culinary type C (highly boiled, with medium powdery). Starch content - 15 - 22%. Suitable for the production of crisp potatoes, dry mashed potatoes, frozen potatoes, frozen vegetable mixtures, alcohol, starch, garnish potatoes and preparation of french fries with food additives.

Lasunok potatoes are suitable for cultivation on all types of soils, but it works best on sandy soils, worst of all on clayey. Poorly tolerates dry periods. It effectively uses natural fertility and is distinguished by a high return on fertilization. To avoid strong tops growing by plants, nitrogen fertilizers should be applied 10 - 15% less than the recommended doses. If you do not take this into account, the plants will give all their strength to the growth of green mass and the tubers will grow small.

The variety is distinguished by a rapid accumulation of yield in the initial growing season. The dormant period is short - the tubers wake up quickly, therefore, strict adherence to the storage regime is required (in the region of 1 - 2 ° C). Keeping quality is good and satisfactory.

Potato variety Lasunok

It is advisable to germinate tubers before planting. Seed material can be cut. Even very small tubers grow large potatoes.

Lasunok is characterized by resistance to late blight of tubers, cancer (pathotype 1) and viruses (S, M, Y, L). Tolerant to rhizoctonia, black leg, common scab, late blight of leaves. Susceptible to golden potato nematode and X virus.

Advantages of the variety: high and stable yield, excellent taste, resistance to fungal and viral diseases, uniformity of tubers.

Disadvantages: short storage period of tubers, one of the first to be affected by late blight in a rainy summer, unmarketable type of tubers due to its large size, an outdated variety, degenerates.

Information is spread on the Internet that due to the hard pubescence of the leaves, these potatoes are not affected by the Colorado potato beetle and its larvae. However, gardeners' reviews say the opposite - that the leaves do not have pubescence that is different from other varieties. As for the beetle's susceptibility to beetle tops, information varies - for some gardeners, the beetle does not touch Lasunok (as a rule, in the first year after the purchase of seed), for others it damages along with other varieties and there are a lot of such reviews. It follows from this that such information is nothing more than an advertising stunt for sellers.

Last year, for the first time, I grew this variety of native selection in a summer cottage. Zoned, so to speak. I would like to note that last summer was very favorable in Belarus for growing potatoes and only a bummer did not get a good harvest. The sizes of some Lasunka tubers were simply amazing: up to 12 cm in diameter! I noticed that the larger ones grew in places where more moisture got under the bush when watering. Before planting, the soil was protracted - the potatoes were collected clean, without a single defeat by the wireworm. Great variety! It cannot be called boiled, but it is quite tasty, suitable for making mashed potatoes, and for cooking as a whole, and for soups, and for potato pancakes.
