Potato variety Ragneda (Rogneda)
Ragneda is a medium late potato variety (Solanum tuberosum) for table use. Bred by the specialists of RUE "Scientific and Production Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Potato and Fruit and Vegetable Growing". In 2011 he was included in the state register of breeding achievements of the Russian Federation. Approved for cultivation in two regions of the country: North-West (Vologda, Kaliningrad, Kostroma, Leningrad, Novgorod, Pskov, Tver, Yaroslavl regions) and Central (Bryansk, Vladimir, Ivanovo, Kaluga, Moscow, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tula regions). Differs in resistance to many diseases. Suitable for mechanical cleaning.
The period from the moment of emergence of full shoots to harvest is 95-110 days.
The plant is tall, leaf type. Stems are semi-erect. Leaves of medium size, intermediate type, light green or darker. The edges of the leaf plate are slightly wavy. The flowers are white. The corolla is medium in size; the intensity of the anthocyanin coloration of its inner side is very weak or absent at all.
The root system of Ragneda is well developed, about 12-14 tubers are formed in one nest. The average weight of commercial copies reaches 78-120 grams. Tubers are oval-rounded. The peel is yellow, strong, protects potatoes well from mechanical damage. The pulp is creamy. The eyes are shallow, the depth of occurrence is medium or less.
According to the results of state tests, the marketable yield of Ragneda ranges from 187−353 c / ha, at the level of indicators of the varieties Nikulinsky and Aurora... The maximum amount was harvested in the Vologda Oblast - 431 centners of tubers were received per hectare of area, 120 centners per hectare more than the Nikulinsky standard. According to the originator, the potential yield can reach 757 c / ha. It is possible that such results are achievable in Belarus, but hardly in Russia, based on the results of the state tests. Marketability is high - 83−96%, keeping quality is excellent - 97%.
Our hero's taste is excellent. The tubers are medium-boiling, suitable for preparing a wide variety of dishes, equally well suited for frying, stuffing, making salads, and for mashed potatoes, cooking and baking. The starch content in the pulp is 12.7-18.4%.
Ragneda is very plastic, perfectly adapts to various soils and climatic conditions. However, it shows the best yield in regions with a mild climate, on fertile soils. In growing, these potatoes are simple, requiring only standard agrotechnical measures. When cultivating on soils poor in nutrient and mineral composition, care should be taken to apply a sufficient amount of fertilizers to the soil.
The variety belongs to the intensive type, which means that the plants are very active in using soil nutrients, as well as micro and macro elements, therefore it is very important to provide them with a sufficient amount of fertilizing to obtain the best yield. Of the features of the variety, one can also note the average duration of the dormant period of tubers. It is highly advisable to germinate them before planting in order to improve germination and reduce the growing season.
Our hero is resistant to the causative agent of potato cancer, anthracnose, golden cyst nematode, X and Y viruses, tuber rhizoctonia. Relatively resistant to Alternaria. It has medium resistance to dry fusarium rot and viruses S, M, L. It is highly resistant to late blight.
Gardeners speak very well of this variety. Especially noteworthy is its taste and excellent keeping quality, high yield and resistance to many diseases.According to potato growers, the tubers are perfectly preserved for more than one year, without losing their consumer qualities and presentation, do not rot. Another plus is the resistance of Ragneda to mechanical damage. Many people also like the unpretentiousness of plants in the care, however, it was noticed that timely high-quality hilling can increase yields. Another observation is that the species does not degenerate for a long time.
We have not yet been able to find any drawbacks in this potato. The only downside is the increased demand for soil fertility. But if you take a little care of your plantings, they will generously endow you with a large and tasty harvest!
