Cucumber variety White Angel (F1)
The White Angel is a medium-ripening cucumber hybrid bred by employees of the Moscow agricultural firm Gavrish. In 2002, it was added to the state register of the Russian Federation for garden plots, home gardens and small farms. Approved for use in all regions. Designed for growing in film greenhouses and under temporary film shelters. The authorship is assigned to S.F. Gavrish, V.V. Shevelev, A.E. Portyankin and A.V. Shamshina.
Variety with a high degree of parthenocarp and bundled ovaries. The period from full sprouting to harvesting the first fruits is 44-50 days.
Plants are vigorous, vigorous, highly branched, mixed flowering, indeterminate (the growth of the central lash is not limited), form many lateral shoots. Leaves are slightly wrinkled, of medium size, dark green in color, with an irregularly serrate edge. In one node, 1 - 2 ovaries are formed. The recommended planting density of the White Angel is 3 rast / square meter.
Cucumbers are medium lumpy, cylindrical, weighing 90-100 grams, 7-10 cm long, 3-3.5 cm in diameter. The skin is white. Pubescence is rare. The thorns are white, not prickly. The pulp is sweetish, not dense, with a cucumber aroma, sometimes bitter. The seeds are small, in overgrown fruits they are rough, tough. Marketable yield is 12 - 15 kg / square meter, or 4 kg / plant. The collection of fruits is carried out when they acquire a faint greenish tint. The more often the collection is carried out, the faster new ovaries begin to develop.
A variety of salad type - the fruits are consumed both fresh and in pickles, marinades; they taste, despite the unusual appearance, typical of cucumbers. The palatability of fresh and canned fruits is good and excellent. When outgrowing, the taste of the fruit deteriorates, and they outgrow quickly. The most delicious and tender are small cucumbers, 4 - 5 cm in length. These cucumbers in jars with ordinary green fruits and tomatoes look very impressive.
Deformed fruits of the second wave of the harvest
The value of the White Angel variety: excellent fruit taste, high yield, unusual appearance.
This hybrid also has disadvantages: poor disease resistance; when the fruits outgrow the length of 6 cm, their seed nest grows strongly, the layer of pulp becomes thin, and the skin coarsens; in the second wave of harvest, watery pear-shaped / barrel-shaped fruits with thick skin appear.
Craving for vegetable exotic pushed me to order the seeds of the White Angel in the online store. In mid-April, the seedlings from the cups were planted under arcs and covered with foil. And at the beginning of June we could already taste the first cucumbers. They turned out to be not crispy, but tasty and juicy. Of the advantages - the variety is quite fruitful, on separate bushes they noticed 2 - 3 ovaries side by side. But for some reason not a single cucumber has grown up to 10 cm. After 5-6 the growth was exclusively in thickness, and the cucumbers hung like overripe barrels. To prevent this, the harvest was taken daily.
Raised the White Angel twice in the open field. The harvest was not great and it is better to collect when the size is not more than 5 cm. The advantages are that when canning they look great in a jar, they do not change color, unlike ordinary cucumbers, the guests were surprised! It seemed to me that they taste a little different from ordinary curled cucumbers, resembled a little zucchini or squash. But maybe it was my personal taste or the twist recipe that made them so. This year I will try to plant two bushes in the greenhouse and see the difference in the amount of collection and for beauty in conservation. Try it.

I bought the “White Angel” variety two years ago.I made salting in jars together with cucumbers of the "Herman" variety. It so happened that the past year was not fruitful for cucumbers. But since last year, two cans of pickled cucumbers have survived. When the cucumbers were opened in winter, I was very surprised. The taste of the famous "Herman" was very inferior to the "White Angel". The White Angel was crisp and hard like a gherkin. Well, very tasty. And this is two years later. I recommend to everyone.
I am one of those people who prefer to see vegetables with a traditional color on their table, so I could not “accept and understand” the white-fruited cucumber for a long time. I began to grow it only when my daughter started talking about him - children just love everything unusual, and now white cucumbers are my favorites. The variety "White Angel" does not see any drawbacks, for me it has only advantages: it is very fruitful - the fruits are tied along the entire length of the lash, the fruits are small - even and pot-bellied, it is a pleasure to harvest - the cucumbers are clearly visible against the background of green foliage, about the taste and aroma and needless to say - they are incomparable, the variety is resistant to major diseases and does not require constant chemical treatments. The only negative is that the fruits were not pleasant when preserved (the color becomes not appetizing).
I took a chance and planted this variety for trial. They look impressive and this is where the advantages end. For some reason, there weren't enough cucumbers. They turned out to be plump, almost round and not very tasty. In canning, they are no different from ordinary ones, except for the color (they remain white). For lovers of everything unusual, this variety is suitable, but I did not like it.
I didn't like this exotic. No taste, no smell, no yield. It did not come to conservation, as it quickly lost interest in it.
