Rose High magic
Nowadays, everyone can choose the queen of flowers for the garden to their liking. However, this is not easy to do, because the existing assortment of varieties of roses is constantly replenished with new varieties. But there are specimens, the image of which, even with a single glance at them, is simply unrealistic to get out of my head. The rose with the magic name High Magic belongs to such incomparable plants.
History of origin
This lovely flower is the result of the fruitful work of European breeders. It appeared in the Netherlands just 6 years ago. The name of the tea hybrid, translated from English, literally means "high magic". This name is due to the incredibly attractive appearance of the flowers that appear on the ornamental shrub, and in particular - the amazing color of the petals. Another name for the culture sounds like High Orange Magic, indicating directly the "fiery" shade prevailing in the color of the buds. Russian flower growers use two names of this rose in everyday life: "High" and "Hitch magic".
Description of the variety
The plant, which has a truly magical charm, is a not too tall bush. High magic grows to a maximum of 1.1 meters in height. The perennial girth is much smaller: about 60 cm. Its shoots are erect, even, and are highly durable. For this reason, the shrub does not require tying and support during the flowering period - it keeps its shape perfectly. The dark green foliage of the plant is devoid of glossy sheen.
The sturdy stems of the rose are usually crowned with single flowers. But it also happens that the buds are formed as part of a miniature brush of 3 or 4 inflorescences. And the flowers of the High Magic variety are wonderful as they are! The unique shade of spectacular buds is called "dancing fire". Its essence is in the smooth transitions of various tones of red, yellow, pink and orange from the periphery of the flower to the center, hence such a picturesque association with a restless flame. The scarlet edges of the petals are slightly bent. Tall, goblet-shaped classic bud retains its shape for a long time. It has up to fifty dense petals, tightly adjacent to each other. The size of the flower ranges from 6 to 8 cm. The inflorescences are fragrant, but their smell is very weak. High magic begins to bloom at the end of May. This period lasts until late autumn. The flowering of the shrub is always abundant.
The undoubted advantages of the High Magic variety include:
- almost complete absence of thorns on the stems;
- color fastness of rose flowers to sunlight - flower petals do not fade under its influence;
- average resistance of buds to rain;
- excellent winter hardiness;
- good immunity, due to which the plant rarely infects fungal and bacterial diseases, as well as insect pests.
Features of growing and care
A well-lit place, protected from strong winds, is suitable for placing the High Magic. The partial shade on summer days, when the sun shines especially intensely, does not need to be provided to culture. The rose should be planted in the fall, before the onset of frost, or in early May. The tea hybrid prefers loose, fertile soils with a pH ranging from 5.6 to 7.3. The soil must be dug up to a depth of no more than 70 cm. Mineral fertilizers are applied to the soil. You should also take care of drainage at the bottom of the hole.
According to the experience of professional flower growers, in the first year of a Dutch beauty's life, she should be deprived of all the buds. Then in the future, the shrub will delight you with lush and abundant flowering, as well as the largest sizes of inflorescences.In dry periods, High Magic requires frequent watering: up to 2 times a week. In general, they are guided by the rate of drying of the surface layer of the soil under the flower. Do not allow soil to be flooded - this can serve as an impetus for the development of fungal diseases.
At least twice a month, it is recommended to loosen the soil under the rose. After that, the soil in the zone of the near-trunk circle can be covered with mulch with a layer of several centimeters to retain moisture. Top dressing is needed High magic at the beginning of the period of active growth (nitrogen fertilizer is applied under the plant), at the stage of budding and during flowering (a mineral complex is used).
Two-year-old plants are subject to mass pruning without fail. This event is carried out in the summer. Sick and damaged stems are removed, while blind shoots are only shortened, cutting them off above the leaves. For winter, the shrub is prepared by hilling the earth to a height of about 40 cm, breaking off the foliage, removing weak stems and bending the strong ones to the ground. Then a frame is installed over the bush, which is covered with a film, or the plant is insulated with spruce branches.
Use cases
High magic will become the main figure of your flower garden, if you plant it in splendid isolation in the middle of a bright lawn. In this case, it is best to place the shrub in the foreground of the site so that it becomes the object of everyone's attention. A plant with fiery flowers can be used in mixborders, group compositions, in flower beds. Landscape designers combine this variety with other tea hybrids, as well as peonies, clematis, miniature evergreen crops. Garden ensembles of a gorgeous rose with yellow-red inflorescences and more modest decorative flowering one and perennials are magnificent. High magic is also suitable for a hedge. And the variety is also used in cutting, as its buds retain their shape, fresh appearance for a long time and are able to decorate any flower bouquet.
