Cucumber variety Self-perfection (F1)
Perfection itself is a hybrid of an early ripening cucumber from the Uralsky Dachnik series supplied to the Russian market by the agricultural firm Mars (Chelyabinsk Region, Miass). Suitable for growing in open ground, film and glazed greenhouses.
Gherkin type, parthenocarpic (no pollination required). In one leaf sinus, from 3 to 6 zelents are tied. The planting density recommended by the manufacturer is up to 2 plants / square meter.
To form perfection itself, like all bunch hybrids, is better in one stem. Removing the side shoots allows the leaves to receive more light, and the growing fruits more nutrients. Formation begins with blinding (removal of all stepsons and ovaries) of the first 3 - 4 knots of the central lash. In all subsequent nodes, up to the horizontal trellis, only the ovaries are left, removing all lateral shoots of the first order. With this formation, one leaf and a bunch of cucumbers remain on the main stem at each node.
Immediately after the first harvest, nitrogen fertilization is carried out. This stimulates the development of new fruits.
Fruits are medium lumpy, cylindrical in shape. The length of the green is 8 - 10 cm. The skin is light green (darker at the base), with longitudinal white stripes of medium length. The pubescence is dense, white in color. The thorns are not prickly. The pulp is tasty, aromatic, dense, crunchy, genetically without bitterness. With proper plant care, the yield is 28 - 30 kg / m2. Harvesting is carried out every day.
This hybrid is characterized by an abundance of fruit on the lashes and a massive return of the harvest. Resistant to high temperatures and stressful conditions of detention. Prefers abundant watering.
A variety for universal use. The fruits can be eaten fresh and prepared from them various preparations for the winter: salt, pickle, prepare barrel cucumbers. When canning, the fruits do not lose their properties - they remain firm and crispy.
Advantages of a cucumber Perfection itself: early maturity, amicable fruiting, high taste qualities of fresh and canned fruits.
Disadvantages of the variety: demanding care, expensive seeds.
The perfection itself was taken for cultivation in the greenhouse, after reading advertisements about disease resistance and high yields. In fact, this variety turned out to be far from perfect. On the plus side, it is indeed very early and super-yielding. For sale, the very thing, expensive seeds pay for themselves at the first collection. But resistance to powdery mildew turned out to be a real myth. The first signs were noticed in the second week of fruiting and barely repulsed this attack by removing the affected leaves, which immediately affected the number of ovaries. Therefore, they decided not to cut off the side shoots. But they had very little ovary and a lot of barren flowers. And this is in a hybrid with a female flowering type!
