Cucumber variety Emelya (F1)

Emelya is an early ripe hybrid of cucumber, bred by the Manul agricultural firm (Mytishchi). Included in the state register of the Russian Federation in 2002. Approved for use in all regions of Russia. Designed for cultivation under film shelters and in heated greenhouses, in private gardens and small farms. Suitable for a balcony.

Cucumber variety Emelya

Parthenocarpic variety - capable of producing fruits without pollination by bees. Very similar in characteristics to a hybrid Real colonel.

Plants are vigorous, indeterminate, with shortened internodes, female or predominantly female flowering type, with bundle ovaries; branching is average or below average. Leaves are green, medium-sized, slightly wrinkled; the edge of the leaf is slightly wavy. From full shoots to the appearance of the first formed fruits, it takes 39 - 43 days. Planting density in open field - 3 - 4 plants / m2, in a greenhouse - 2.5 plants / m2.

Zelents are fusiform or oval-cylindrical, large-tuberous, with a short neck, weighing 120 - 150 grams, 13 - 15 cm long, 4 - 4.4 cm in diameter. The skin is thin, tender, without bitterness, rich green color, with light short stripes. Pubescence of medium intensity. The thorns are white. Marketable yield - 12 - 16 kg / square meter.

The hybrid has increased cold resistance, due to which it gives higher yields in bad weather than other similar varieties. Has a high resistance to olive spot and common cucumber mosaic virus, and only medium - to powdery mildew and root rot.

The variety was bred as a salad variety, in fact, cucumbers are good both fresh and for canning. Overgrown fruits are very juicy, do not lose their taste.

Advantages of Emelya's cucumber: very high palatability of fruits, high yield (at the level of hybrids April and Zozulya), friendly return of the harvest, complex disease resistance.

Disadvantages: weak resistance to downy mildew, the appearance of single hermaphrodite fruits on plants is possible.

It should be noted that under the same name in Ukraine (TM "Seeds of Ukraine" and "GL SEEDS") a variety with completely different characteristics is produced.

Last year I planted a couple of Emeli bushes. Grew up well. He looked after as follows: watering abundant, if possible daily, once every 15 days fed with fertilizer "Zdraven", cut off only the lateral shoots. I always cover the surface of the beds with a thin layer of fresh hay to prevent drying out. In general, the variety performed well as indicated on the seed package. Flowers, mostly female, a lot of cucumbers. Pollination is not required. However, it cannot be said that the plants are very tall. Nearby in my greenhouse were growing cucumbers "Zozulya", which reached the same size. Conclusion: these varieties are very similar (and to the taste of cucumbers too).
