Cucumber variety Harmonist (F1)
Harmonist is a hybrid of an early ripening cucumber, bred by breeders of the Gavrish company. In 2008 it was included in the state register of the Russian Federation for seven regions - North, North-West, Central, Volgo-Vyatka, Central Black Earth, North Caucasus and Middle Volga. The authorship is assigned to S.F. Gavrish, A.E. Portyankin, A.V. Shamshina and V.N. Shevkunov.
The variety is parthenocarpic, with a bundle arrangement of ovaries. Designed for growing in open ground, under film shelters and in glazed greenhouses. From full germination to fruiting, 40 - 42 days pass.
Plants are medium-sized, female flowering type; branching level below average. 30 - 40% of lateral shoots of the determinant type. Leaves are medium in size, green to dark green in color. In one leaf sinus, from 2 to 4 ovaries are formed.
When grown in open ground on a trellis, the shaping is carried out according to the classical scheme, in which the first 3 - 4 leaf sinuses are blinded (all ovaries and stepsons are removed). Then, up to a height of 60 - 70 cm, remove all lateral shoots, leaving only the ovaries. Above, lateral shoots are left, pinching after 2 - 3 leaves. From a height of 1.5 meters, the side shoots are pinched after 3 - 5 leaves.
Cucumbers are cylindrical, with small tubercles, weighing 100 - 120 grams, 11 - 13 cm long, 3 - 3.5 cm in diameter. The skin is dark green (lighter at the top), with a faint spotting and white blurred stripes reaching up to ¼ of the length fetus. Pubescence is frequent, white in color. The pulp is crispy, without bitterness. The seeds are small. The yield of marketable fruits is 12 - 13 kg / square meter.
A multipurpose variety - suitable for fresh consumption (summer salads) and canning (pickles, marinades).
The Harmonist hybrid is resistant to common cucumber diseases - cladosporia, powdery mildew and root rot; tolerant to peronosporosis.
Seeds for seedlings are sown in late April - early May. Transplanting into the ground under temporary film shelters is carried out in late May - early June, when the plants will acquire 2 - 3 true leaves. Sowing seeds directly into open ground is carried out in late May - early June. Planting pattern: 50 × 50 cm. The optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 25 - 30 ° C.
In the open field, this hybrid is recommended to be grown through seedlings.
Since this variety has a well-developed root system, it needs enhanced nutrition. Therefore, after 10 -14 days from the beginning of fruiting, fertilizing begins. In the first stages, nitrogen fertilizers are mainly used. At the same time, they are trying to reduce the proportion of ammonia fertilizers, due to which the fruits are formed weakly colored and watery. During the intensive growth of lateral shoots, 5 - 7 days after the beginning of mass fruiting, the proportion of phosphorus-potassium fertilizers is increased.
Advantages of the Harmonist cucumber: early maturity, high palatability of fruits, intense fruiting, complex disease resistance.
Great cucumber! Planted in Kamchatka, in the suburbs of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, on a high bed for temporary shelter (lutrasil). It grows and bears fruit. Indeed, it is not subject to the above-described diseases, especially gray rot. Good size, sweet taste. Fruiting early.
