Cucumber variety Courage (F1)

Courage is an early ripening hybrid of cucumber from Russian breeders - the Gavrish agricultural firm. Designed for growing in greenhouses and film shelters. The period from full germination to fruiting is 38 - 44 days. In 2002, the variety was included in the state register of the Russian Federation and approved for use in all regions of Russia. It is also included in the registers of Ukraine and Belarus. Recommended for growing in garden plots and small farms.

Plants are parthenocarpic (do not require pollination by bees), indeterminate (with unlimited growth of the main stem), female type of flowering, medium-sized (3 - 3.5 m), medium-branched, well-leafy, with bundled ovaries. On the main shoot, from 2 to 4 fruits are formed in one node, on the side ones - up to 5 - 8. At the same time, up to 20 - 30 cucumbers can be poured on the bush. Leaves are green, smooth, medium-sized, irregularly serrate along the edge. Planting density in the greenhouse - 2.2 - 2.5 plants / square meter.

The bush is led into one stem. In the axils of the first 4-6 leaves, all ovaries and lateral shoots are removed. Thanks to this, the plant directs all its forces to form a strong root system and a powerful leaf apparatus. Starting from the 5th - 7th leaf until the plant reaches the trellis (2.2 meters), only the lateral shoots are removed in the axils, leaving all the ovaries. Further, the plant is directed along the trellis and pinched the top when it reaches the neighboring plant. In 2 - 3 nodes under the trellis, in addition to the ovaries, you can leave shoots by pinching them after the 2nd leaf. This shaping provides maximum illumination and facilitates the establishment of a large number of ovaries.

Zelentsy are cylindrical, slightly ribbed, medium tuberous, 12 - 18 cm long, 3.5 - 4.5 cm in diameter, weighing 100 - 140 grams. On the main lash, the cucumbers are slightly larger than on the side shoots. The skin is dark green, with a slight waxy bloom and white stripes reaching up to a third of the fruit. The pubescence is frequent, the thorns are white. The pulp is crispy, aromatic, tender, tasty, sweetish. However, it is worth noting that in terms of taste, Kurazh is inferior to bee-pollinated and salad varieties. In order not to slow down the growth of the cucumber bush, it is advisable to harvest the first fruits early, when the greens have reached 10 - 11 cm.Overexposing the cucumbers on the plant is not worth it, since the regular collection of fruits allows it to form more ovaries, due to which the yield will increase. From one square meter get 16 - 18 kg of the crop.

The Kurazh hybrid, due to its resistance to adverse weather factors, is perfect for growing in the second turn. This is especially true for the southern regions of our country (Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories, Rostov Region). In this case, you can count on a yield of 12 kg / m2 or more. The optimal time for sowing seeds during the summer-autumn rotation is the first decade of June, for planting seedlings in the ground - the first decade of July. With summer sowing, only 33 - 34 days pass from germination to fruiting. Planting density - 2 - 2.2 plants / square meter. If the planting is carried out later, you should not expect bountiful harvests, because the level of illumination decreases in autumn.

Cucumber variety Courage (F1)

A variety of universal use. Suitable for fresh consumption (salads) and canning (salted and pickled products).

The hybrid is resistant to powdery mildew, tolerant to downy mildew and root rot. Plucked cucumbers do not lose their properties for 10 days. Fruits not harvested in time do not outgrow.

Advantages of cucumber Courage: high yield, resistance to disease and heat, good keeping quality, transportability, presentation, high taste.

The disadvantages include: exactingness to care and shaping, the presence of voids in the fruits and the appearance of bitterness with insufficient watering.

The variety is very productive. The seeds have never failed, the germination is excellent. We grow in a greenhouse on trellises in one stem. We collect every other day all summer, sometimes in autumn. It is mainly suitable for fresh consumption and sale. For conservation, their cultivation does not make much sense, since they are large enough (10 - 12 cm) and full. You will have to pick unripe cucumbers so that they look beautiful in the jar. But the taste is excellent, smells fresh, crispy. The crust is thin, not coarse, dark green in color, with white thorns.

I don’t understand how you can get a good harvest from one stem? It is immediately stated that a larger number of cucumbers are formed on the side shoots than on the main one.

A good harvest is produced not by the "stem", but by a well-formed bush, on which all ovaries and lateral shoots are removed in the axils of the first 4-6 leaves ... and further in the text. Read carefully)

Why are the fruits light green?

This is my favorite variety. I have been planting for several years in a row and will continue to plant. The cucumbers are all smooth and neat. Well suited for blanks and just like that, for salad. I grow it in the open field, for the first time I cover it with a film, I never form a bush. Perhaps there would have been more cucumbers, but I have no time to run around and remove excess shoots. Cucumbers grow freely on the ground and the harvest is always great. Most importantly, they love fertilized soil and good watering. They bear fruit for a long time. By autumn, of course, there are very few fruits, but they are there.
