Apple variety Uslada

Uslada is one of the varieties obtained by S.I. Isaev. The famous breeder and successor Michurin crossed various wild and cultivated varieties, including Narodnoye and Severyanka, during his work. The result was obtained in 1961 in the botanical garden of the Moscow State University. Lomonosov. In 1996, the variety was zoned for the central regions of Russia, where it successfully passed many years of testing. Delight winters well, and this apple tree is also a good choice for regions with rainy summers, because its resistance to scab disease is very high.

Apple variety Uslada

The tree grows relatively small in size, 3 - 4 meters. The crown of a young plant is round, as it grows, it stretches into an oval one. Due to the tendency of this apple tree to thicken the branches, careful and competent pruning is required. An apple tree grown from a seedling begins to yield crops already in the fourth or fifth year after planting. In general, yields are regular and abundant. But, if you do not form a crown, the fruits can be of different sizes.

Apples range in size from medium to large. They weigh, as a rule, 100 - 130 grams, but on good soils they can reach 170 grams. Fruits are round in shape, slightly oval, without ribs. The skin is smooth, not very thick. The main color of the surface is greenish-yellow, but a bright crimson blush covers almost the entire fruit or forms wide blurred stripes. Subcutaneous points are noticeable. The pulp under the skin itself can also acquire a pink tint, but the bulk is white. The petioles of the apples are firmly attached, so that the fruits hardly crumble.

The name of the variety speaks: Uslada apples belong to the dessert. They are very tasty, sweet and sour, with a raspberry aroma. The pulp is tender and juicy, dense, fine-grained. The fruits are universal: they can be consumed and stored fresh or used for various preparations. In addition to good taste, apples are also distinguished by healthy qualities: a high content of vitamins, pectin, sugars and other substances. So, vitamin C is about 2 times more than in the famous Antonovka. This variety is recommended for children and those who require dietary nutrition.

Apple variety Uslada

The Uslada apple tree belongs to the early autumn varieties, ripening occurs at the end of August - September. Harvested slightly unripe, apples lie well until mid-winter, provided the necessary storage conditions are observed. But fully ripe fruits are best consumed within a month.

So, the main advantages of the variety:

- Proven winter hardiness.
- Resistant to scab.
- Early and subsequently abundant annual fruiting.
- Delicious dessert fruits with a high content of vitamins.
- The apples are beautiful and keep well, so the variety is suitable for commercial cultivation.

Of the shortcomings, it can be noted that the unevenness of the fruits as a result of strong thickening of the crown. But if you do regular pruning, this problem will not arise. Since the Uslada apple tree belongs to the semi-dwarf type, the tree is not tall, and it is not difficult to care for it.

Yes, indeed, a good variety. We have 2 such trees, beautiful fruits, excellent taste. And the seedlings grafted from this tree turn out beautiful and begin to bear fruit (on the 54-118th rootstock) a year after planting ...
