Cucumber variety Chinese cold-resistant (F1)
Chinese cold-resistant - a hybrid of a medium-early ripening cucumber, obtained by breeders of the agricultural firm Sedek (Domodedovo). Designed for cultivation in open ground, greenhouses and winter greenhouses. The period from the emergence of seedlings to the collection of the first fruits is 50 - 55 days.
The plants are vigorous and vigorous. It is recommended to place them on trellises so that the fruits do not bend. The leaves are green, medium in size.
Cucumbers are cylindrical (often curved), with large tubercles and a short neck, very long (30-50 cm). The skin is dark green, shiny, thin. The pubescence is dense. The thorns are white. The pulp is juicy, aromatic, sweet, genetically without bitterness. The seeds are small.
This variety is best suited for fresh consumption, but it is also suitable for salting if the cucumbers are cut into slices.
This hybrid is characterized by increased tolerance to adverse environmental factors, high productivity and excellent fruit quality, as well as shade tolerance and cold resistance. Resistant to fusarium wilting, powdery mildew and downy mildew.
The most abundant yields are observed in the first 2 - 3 weeks of fruiting. Cucumbers not picked in time do not turn yellow. However, it is not worth delaying the removal of fruits, because when overgrown, the skin coarsens, and the pulp loses its taste. It is advisable to use the harvested crop in the first knocks, because fruits wither quickly.
Advantages of cucumber Chinese cold-resistant: high yield, long-term fruiting, unpretentious care, disease resistance, high taste properties of fresh and canned fruits.
He also has disadvantages: reviews of gardeners say that this hybrid does not have the declared cold resistance and is inferior in this parameter to other varieties, for example Zozule.
I planted it by chance, since they brought the seeds as a present. The cucumbers were pleasantly surprised by their taste (thin skin, small seeds even in "adult" fruits, soft pulp) and external data (length more than 30 cm). Almost all of the pack has sprouted seeds, which is very significant. I watered all summer, I don't know, maybe there would have been a crop without watering, but I did not risk it, since the summer was dry. Fruiting until late autumn, until October. From one garden bed we had enough cucumbers for fresh salad for every day, and for pickling (of course, only in pieces). Very pleased with the variety.
I planted this variety for two years, waiting for a good harvest. I wanted large and long cucumbers. But, apparently, I had no luck, either with the summer, or with my experience. 2015 was a cold year, just like 2017. In 2016, I did not plant it, because of the bitterness in 2015. But I tried it this year, planted it in a warm garden bed, under a greenhouse in two layers, since September was cold. I planted it late, in August, for the sake of experiment. They grew with me along with the peppers. I was unexpectedly surprised, there were cucumbers, but there were few of them. Most importantly for me, they were absolutely not bitter, and the rind was thin. Ideal for salads, as I marinate other varieties.
Planted this year in 2018, and the Chinese cold-hardy and emerald flow for good luck. Some I bought seedlings on the market, some seeds I found in the country, they hibernated for an unknown number of years. I planted everything and seedlings and seeds. Everything has taken root, and the seeds have sprouted. I had to plant those that did not fit into the greenhouse, in open ground in barrels. The harvest turned out to be great. The greenhouses yielded well first. Then came the turn of the street.Without covering material, they grew and bore fruit at the end of summer, although the nights are already cool in August, but there were no frosts except for a couple of nights in July, the temperature dropped to plus 5 degrees. August spoiled us with rather warm days.
