Cucumber variety Marinda (F1)
Marinda is a popular early ripening cucumber hybrid from the Dutch company Monsanto Holland BV. Designed for growing, both in open and protected ground (glass and film greenhouses). Sets fruit without bee pollination (parthenocarpic). From germination to the appearance of the first fruits, it takes 40 - 55 days. In 1994, the variety was added to the state register of the Russian Federation. Approved for use in the Central and Central Black Earth regions.
The plant is medium vigorous, not thickened, which is convenient for harvesting. No special care required. With adequate nutrition, 5 - 7 gherkins are formed in each node. Fruits are cylindrical, dark green, with large tuberous pubescence and white thorns, 8 - 10 cm long, weighing 65 - 75 grams. The pulp is firm, crispy, without bitterness, with small seed chambers. The yield per square meter is 25 - 30 kg.
The variety is universal: the fruits are consumed fresh, and also used for salting.
The Marinda hybrid is resistant to fungal and viral diseases, including powdery mildew, cladosporium, mosaic, scab, leaf spot. Also shows flexibility to stressful weather conditions.
Advantages of Marinda cucumber: high and stable yields, excellent taste and marketability, fruits are well suited for pickling.
I plant Marinda every year. She gives a consistently stable harvest, despite the weather conditions. Cucumbers ripen early, they are delicious, excellent in fresh salads and preparations. This is the variety that does not pose any problems when growing. In our places, the spring is protracted, so I sow in cups, and when the heat comes, I transfer it to the garden. I cover the landings with non-woven fabric. These cucumbers do not require insect pollination - the shelter does not need to be removed. I mulch with cut grass - this way less moisture evaporates and the soil under the mulch layer is always loose. This year the beginning of summer was cold and the picking of the first cucumbers was slightly delayed. But then there were so many cucumbers that they were distributed to neighbors and friends.
