Cucumber variety Meringue (F1)
Meringue is a hybrid of an early ripening cucumber. Bred by specialists from the Dutch agricultural firm Seminis, owned by one of the world's largest seed breeding companies - Monsanto. In 2007, the variety was entered into the state register of plants in Russia. Designed for growing in open ground and all types of greenhouses in personal subsidiary plots. Approved for use in all regions of the Russian Federation. Ideal for industrial processing. In the market, Merengi fruits are in special demand due to their attractive appearance.
Parthenocarpic variety (does not require bee pollination). Plants are tall, medium-growing, female flowering type. Leaves are medium in size, green in color. Open bushes - which makes planting and harvesting easier. In one node, 2 - 3 ovaries are formed. From germination to the receipt of the first fruits, it takes 37 - 40 days. Fruiting lasts the entire growing season.
Fruits are cylindrical, one-dimensional, with large tubercles, short (10 - 12 cm), 3 - 3.3 cm in diameter, weighing 90 - 100 grams. The skin is thin, dark green, with mild mottling and short light stripes at the top of the fruit; medium-intensity wax coating. Pubescence is of medium density. Spikes are white. Pulp with excellent taste, genetically without bitterness. In the open field, the marketable yield is 2 kg / square meter (of which 1.24 kg falls on the first wave of fruiting), and in protected field - 15.2 kg / square meter.
The Merengue hybrid is characterized by amicable formation of an early harvest and good regeneration of shoots after stressful situations. Possesses complex resistance to common diseases of cucumber (olive spot, cucumber mosaic virus, powdery mildew), field tolerance to peronosporosis. Cucumbers are resistant to deformation and yellowing. Plants are immune to cold snaps and prolonged heat.
Canning variety - small gherkin-type cucumbers look great in winter pickles and marinades. Like most canned varieties, Meringue can also be used fresh - consumed directly from the bush or cut into salads.
The advantages of this cucumber: high yield, excellent marketability and taste.
The disadvantages include: only average resistance to downy mildew (downy mildew). It is undesirable to grow this hybrid in the second turn.
It is believed that seeds of the Meringue variety, packaged by different suppliers, have different quality and even different prices with the same-looking packaging. The quality of seeds of importers from Rostov, Volgograd and Kazakhstan is worse (respectively, and the price is lower) than that of importers from Moscow and Ukraine (higher price).
