Cucumber variety Abundant
Abundant - a variety of cucumber of early ripening, bred at the Volgograd experimental station of the All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Industry named after N.I. Vavilov of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences. In 1999, it was included in the state register of the Russian Federation for three regions: Central, Central Black Earth and Lower Volga. Recommended for outdoor cultivation. The authorship belongs to L.P. Malychenko and A.M. Popova.
The variety is bee-pollinated, canned, mixed flowering type. The period from germination to fruiting is 40 - 45 days. Suitable for commercial production. In the southern regions of Russia, it is possible to grow cucumber Abundant in the spring-summer and summer-autumn turnover.
Plants are medium-growing, strongly leafy, indeterminate. They are characterized by good adaptation to unfavorable environmental conditions. Leaves are medium-wrinkled, medium-dissected, dark green in color.
Cucumbers are strongly ribbed, cylindrical in shape, with large tubercles, round-triangular in cross section. Zelentsy weighing 80 - 100 grams, 9 - 10 cm long, 2.7 - 3 cm thick. The skin is dark green, with pronounced light green stripes. Pubescence is rare. The thorns are white. The pulp is tender, juicy, without bitterness. The output of marketable products is 80 - 95%. During the first month of fruiting, 76 - 98% of the crop is formed. As a rule, the main crop can be harvested before the appearance of downy mildew.
Productivity of marketable products by region:
- Central: 110 - 259 c / ha, which is at the level of the standard variety Vyaznikovskiy 37.
- Central black earth: 210 - 279 c / ha, which is 20 - 53 c / ha higher than the Unity standard.
- Nizhnevolzhsky: 281 - 510 c / ha, which exceeds the results of the standards Dean and Magnificent (181 - 504 c / ha).
Advantages of cucumber Abundant: unpretentiousness, early maturity, excellent taste properties of fruits in fresh and canned form, amicable crop formation, intense fruiting, marketability.
The main disadvantage is poor resistance to peronosporosis.
For two years in a row I have been planting Abundant, and I am very pleased with its yield. Since I live in the south, I do not grow cucumber seedlings, I just plant them in open ground as soon as the ground warms up. I cover the bed with a film and then in June we are already with cucumbers. This variety is early, and when I planted it for the first year, at the end of July all the lashes were already dry, and the garden was empty until autumn, which I did not like at all. Last year I did this trick, as soon as the lashes began to bare, I sprinkled them with earth. I advise everyone to try it, because the same variety bore fruit for me until the fall. The bare lashes took root and began to grow again, so I did it with the whole garden, it turned out that I renewed them, and they continued to grow, although they were about to dry out.
