Cucumber variety Blizzard (F1)
Blizzard is a hybrid of an ultra-early ripening cucumber from the Biotekhnika company (St. Petersburg). In 2006 it was included in the state register of the Russian Federation. Approved for use in the North, North-West, Volgo-Vyatka, Central, Middle Volga, North Caucasian and Central Black Earth regions. Designed for cultivation under film shelters in personal subsidiary plots. The authorship is assigned to A.N. Kononov and L.G. Krasnikov.
Parthenocarpic variety (does not require pollination). The period from the emergence of full shoots to fruiting is 37 - 38 days. In regions with a cool climate, it is recommended to grow the Blizzard through seedlings.
Plants are medium-sized, with exclusively female flowers, indeterminate (the growth of the central lash is not limited). The regrowth of lateral shoots is very weak, especially in the lower tier of the plant. In one leaf sinus, from 3 to 5 ovaries are formed. The leaves are green, medium in size.
Cucumbers are oval-cylindrical, with medium-sized tubercles, short (6 - 8 cm), weighing 70 - 80 grams. Having reached a length of 5 - 6 cm, the fruits begin to grow in breadth. The skin is green, at the top it is light green, with white stripes of medium length. The pubescence is complex. The thorns are brown. The pulp is sweet. The yield of marketable fruits is 14 - 15 kg / square meter.
A universal variety - suitable for fresh consumption, for summer salads and preparations for the winter.
This hybrid is resistant to olive spot (cladosporium), powdery mildew and downy mildew.
Advantages of the Blizzard cucumber: early ripeness, high yield, excellent taste properties of the fruit.
Disadvantages: Fruits are prone to voids.
