Rose Corvette (Corvette)

Among hybrid tea roses, some stand out in one way or another. For example, the Corvette variety differs from other varieties belonging to the above-mentioned group of ornamental plants in the rich, cheerful color of its buds. Admire its wonderful flowers - and the melancholy is removed as if by hand!

History of creation

The Corvette is the creation of renowned breeder Wilhelm Cordes III. It appeared in Germany in 1997 through a cross between a seedling and a variety of the noble Robina flower. The variety name used in catalogs and special literature is KORveco.

Description of appearance and features

This plant should be characterized as a perennial ornamental flowering shrub with erect or slightly branched shoots. It reaches a height of 125 cm. The maximum "growth" of a rose is 1.8 meters, but this indicator takes place only if there is a large amount of nitrogen in the soil under the flower. The bush grows in breadth no more than a meter. It is fast growing. The stems of the tea hybrid have a spectacular outfit in the form of emerald shiny leathery foliage. The number of spines on their surface is small, but the spines themselves are quite sharp, although small.

The flowers of this beautiful plant are striking. In the bud stage, they are characterized by the classic elongated shape of a tall glass. Each Corvette flower opens gradually, over the course of 5-7 days, showing scarlet petals to the observer's eyes. However, the inflorescence core remains invisible. In addition, in the phase of complete dissolution, the flowers do not lose their ideal, regular shape. Under the influence of bright sunlight, the inflorescences acquire a light orange hue, which creates the feeling that the red petals are shimmering and even glowing from the inside. The size of each flower in girth ranges from 9 to 12 cm. The buds of the ornamental plant are single and formed by 20-35 tightly rolled silky petals with wavy edges. In brushes, they can develop only if the shoots are trimmed into 3-4 buds. The plant blooms profusely, entering this period in early summer. The flowering phase of the variety lasts until the first autumn frosts. It should also be added that the flowers formed on this rose exude a pleasant aroma that combines the sweet smells of strawberries, cherries and grapes. This fragrance surrounds the slender shrub with a weightless cloud and is another highlight of the variety after the juicy color of the flower petals.

The Corvette is blessed with robust health. It is not threatened by powdery mildew, black spot and other fungal or bacterial diseases. The flowers of the noble plant suffer little from precipitation and practically do not fade in the sun. An ornamental perennial wintering well without shelter when the air temperature drops to -15−20 ° C.

This variety has a variety called Corvette White. It is inherent in more miniature size: the height and width of the shrub vary from 60 cm to 1 meter. In summer, the plant pleases the eye with small flowers not exceeding 5 cm in diameter. The maximum number of petals in the bud of this rose is 16.

Growing and care

Our heroine prefers moderately bright places where she will not be exposed to direct sunlight for a long time. It is advisable to create a light partial shade for a bright beauty. This is especially important in the summer, during the hot midday hours. The plant should be protected from cold drafts. However, it is recommended to place the shrub on the site in such a way as to provide the plant with normal air circulation. Then the culture will be reliably protected from the possible appearance of insect pests.

The soil for Corvette needs nutritious, moderately moist and sufficiently breathable. The best time to plant a plant is October. The soil used to grow a flowering crop should be slightly acidic or neutral. Immediately after planting, the rose is watered abundantly with warm melt or rain water. If the roots are bare, soil is poured under the bush. After moistening the soil, the zone of the trunk circle is mulched with humus, hay or peat. Spring crop care measures: pruning dead and too weak shoots, feeding with nitrogen fertilizer and treating the plant with a fungicidal-insecticidal solution in order to prevent the occurrence of diseases and pests (it is carried out before flowering). In the phase of budding and the appearance of inflorescences on the bush, mineral concentrates are introduced under the perennial. It is necessary to water the culture throughout the season 1-2 times a week, in the evening hours.

Use cases

The corvette is appropriate both in single landings and in group compositions. Choosing the first option, place the crop on a neat grassy lawn, in the foreground of the site, at the entrance to a garden or dwelling, then it will attract attention. When including a plant in your composition, carefully select neighbors for it. They can be hybrid tea roses of other varieties, which have inflorescences of white, cream, pink and yellow shades; cereals, fragrant herbs, decorative deciduous crops, dwarf conifers, owners of numerous small flowers of suitable colors. The buds of the German variety Corvette are ideal when cut: the luxurious flowers on long peduncles stand in the water for up to two weeks without losing their shape or crumbling.
