Rose Gaujard
The creations of the French, in whatever area they are produced, demonstrate sophistication, striving for excellence and great taste. This also applies to decorative flowering crops, and the Rose Gozhar variety can serve as a vivid example here. This rose claims to be the central figure in your flower garden.
History of origin
Rose Gaujard is a 1957 variety. It was created by the head of the nursery Joseph Pernet-Duchet in Lyon, Jean Gojard, who used the method of crossing the Opera seedling and the variety Rease... Our heroine is the best variety bred by the aforementioned specialist. For more than 50 years, this culture has become a kind of classic, and therefore does not lose its popularity to this day. She is the recipient of high awards: the British Royal Society of Horticultural Medal of Honor and the Gold Medal of the British Royal National Rose Society as a rose variety with outstanding and new varietal qualities. And in the year of its appearance, the perennial received the status of a laureate of the national flower exhibition Lyon Rose Trials.
Description of appearance and features
This plant belongs to the group of tea hybrids. It is a vigorous, sprawling shrub with a height of 80 to 120 cm. Large, dark green, dense, shiny leaves develop on long, straight and rather strong shoots of the plant. A graceful and aristocratic look to the culture is given by densely double, cupped flowers of a cherry-pink or bright carmine shade. They range in size from 8 to 10 cm. Classic goblet buds are approximately 5 cm in diameter. They are formed one at a time on the tops of strong shoots, pleasant, but smell weak. Each flower consists of 70-80 delicate silky petals with an almost white underside. This feature, when the buds are dissolved, creates the effect of a two-tone color. The plant blooms profusely throughout the season, with the second and subsequent waves of flowering being more intense than the initial one. In addition, there are practically no breaks between these periods, that is, the Gozhar rose bush during the summer and until autumn stands all covered with luxurious flowers.
The winter hardiness of the French variety is good, thanks to which the plant can be cultivated in central Russia and, of course, in the southern regions. Rose Gaujard is highly resistant to diseases and pests. The flowers of the culture are not damaged by weak and short-term rains, while heavy rains can cause them damage, although not too significant.
Growing and care
The tea hybrid should not be placed in an area where it will be exposed to the scorching rays of the sun for most of the day. It is preferable to plant a shrub so that it grows in openwork partial shade or under the influence of diffused sunlight, especially in the midday hours of summer days. Places completely blown by cold winds, as well as lowlands, are not suitable for placing the variety - water stagnates in them after heavy rains, which can provoke rotting of the root system.
The soil for growing Roses Gojar needs nutritious, fresh, rich in humus. The reaction of the soil should be slightly acidic, for which the garden soil is mixed with peat. In addition, humus and sand are added to make the earth loose. All components of the soil mixture are taken in equal amounts. A layer of drainage material is laid at the bottom of the planting pit: gravel, perlite. Watering the plant requires not too frequent, but abundant. It is recommended to moisten the soil under the bush in cool weather 1 time, in hot weather - 2-3 times a week. Water is used necessarily soft, room temperature. After watering, you need to loosen the soil under the flower and mulch the area of the near-trunk circle with a mixture of sawdust and manure.
In the spring, roses are pruned, removing dead and thin branches, as well as fertilizing with nitrogen fertilizer. In the summer, during the formation of buds on a perennial, and then flowers, an elegant Frenchwoman is treated to a phosphorus-potassium concentrate. Also do two weeks after the end of flowering. It is important to remove withered buds in a timely manner to stimulate the emergence of new flowers. It is not forbidden to make a shaping "haircut" in the summer. And with the arrival of autumn, all the stems of the tea hybrid are shortened, after which they spud the plant with dry soil or peat and cover with a textile insulation.
