Cucumber Variety Emerald Earrings (F1)
Emerald earrings are a hybrid of an early ripening cucumber, bred by specialists from the Moscow agricultural firm Gavrish. In 2011 it was added to the state register of the Russian Federation for all regions. Suitable for cultivation in greenhouses, under temporary shelters and in the open field. Authors of the variety: S.F. Gavrish, A.E. Portyankin, A.V. Shamshina, V.N. Shevkunov, N.N. Khomchenko, T. Ya. Surovova, I.S. Pluzhnik.
The variety is parthenocarpic (does not require pollination), with a bouquet arrangement of ovaries. Suitable for picking pickles (3 - 5 cm) and gherkins (5 - 8 cm). From the emergence of seedlings to the collection of the first fruits, 42 - 47 days pass.
Plants are vigorous, medium-branched, indeterminate (have unlimited growth), exclusively with female flowers. The leaves are green, medium in size. One leaf sinus of a cucumber Emerald catkins contains from 2 to 10 ovaries. So that they do not dry out, the plant needs optimal care and balanced nutrition.
Zelentsi are cylindrical in shape, with medium-sized tubercles, weighing 100 - 120 grams, 9 - 11 cm long, 3 - 4 cm in diameter. The skin is dark green, with short whitish stripes and a spot of medium density. The pubescence is very dense. The thorns are white, very prickly, so it is advisable to harvest with gloves. The yield of marketable fruits is 12 - 14 kg / square meter.
A variety for universal use. Suitable for summer salads as well as pickles and marinades.
This hybrid is resistant to common diseases - cucumber mosaic virus, brown spot and powdery mildew; tolerant to peronosporosis, root rot and bacteriosis.
Advantages of the cucumber Emerald catkins: high yield, early maturity, amicable fruiting, excellent fruit taste.
Seeds are sown for seedlings at the end of April. Planting seedlings in the ground is carried out in late May - early June. In this case, the plants should have 3 - 4 true leaves. Sowing directly into the greenhouse is carried out in mid-May. Planting scheme: 50 × 50 cm.
We use this variety for outdoor cultivation. I sow in mid - late May on prepared beds, best of all on "hot beds". Before sowing, I carry out processing and testing of seeds for germination. Until the first shoots appear and the second or third leaf grows, I keep it under the covering. The variety quickly gains leaf mass, so I do the pinching regularly - leaving the required number of shoots. Blooms profusely and amicably. The main plus of this variety is its amicable ripening - up to 20 cucumbers ripen on one lash at the same time. Disease resistant. Reacts well to regular feeding - urea, mullein and saltpeter. The fruits are great for pickling. It goes to salads after a little rest - its thorns soften. But the yield does not last long, which is why I plant it in open ground - they have grown, harvested fruits, cleared the garden.
