Rose of Nostalgie (Nostalgie)

Despite all the variety of rose varieties available for growing a modern florist, some varieties have a special flavor. One gets the impression that their place is only in some fairy-tale garden - the appearance of these noble plants is so magical. This variety is Nostalgie.

History of appearance

This tea hybrid was developed by German breeders in 1996. The place of the original birth of the variety was the Tantau nursery, located in the north of Germany and belonging to the most famous European rose-growing organizations. In flower catalogs, our heroine can also be listed under the following names: Nostalgia, La Garconne, TANeiglat. She is the recipient of several awards, including the one she received in The Hague in 2000 and in Glasgow 16 years ago as the best rose.

Description of appearance

It was not in vain that the beauty of Nostalgie was given such a romantic, tender name. Admiring her, one really wants to plunge into pleasant memories of the happy moments of the past. The flowers of the plant, which, of course, are the main value of the hybrid tea culture, have a unique two-color color. The middle of the opened flower is formed by creamy white double petals with a pinkish tint. On the edges there are petals with bright crimson stains and the corresponding color edging. The flower shape can be characterized as spherical or cupped. By the way, the buds of this pretty rose are crimson-red, the edges of the petals are speckled with snow-white veins. Up to 40 petals are formed in one flower. Their crimson color does not suffer at all from the bright summer sun. Nostalgie is not only incomparable in appearance, but also exudes a pleasant, rather strong aroma that lasts for a long time even with flowers cut and placed in a vase. This fragrance clearly captures the sweet fruity notes.

The rose bush is not very large. Its height can be from 0.7 to 1 meter. But Nostalgie is vigorous, with densely spaced long and strong shoots, equipped with thorns. Young stems have a reddish tint, which makes the appearance of the plant even more original. The leaves appearing on the bush are colored dark red. With further growth and development, they change their shade to dark green. The leaves are smooth and leathery to the touch. Their outer surface has a pronounced glossy sheen.

The variety blooms profusely and practically without interruption throughout the summer season. One flower appears on each shoot. In time, the buds bloom for a long time. Many owners of Nostalgia are of the opinion that the most remarkable visually is the moment of half-release of divinely beautiful flowers.

The rose has a high level of frost resistance. It is reliably protected from the appearance of black spot on the leaves. In addition, the fragrant sissy, namely her flowers, is not at all afraid of rain.

Our heroine belongs to the cut varieties. The flowers stay in the water for more than two weeks, keeping their fresh appearance.

Features of growing and care

Nostalgia will certainly delight you with a gorgeous flowering, if you plant it on an area where enough sunlight falls. Such a place must be protected from drafts. The culture should be regularly watered with soft water at room temperature. On a sunny day, it is advisable to carry out this procedure in the early morning or with the onset of evening twilight. The next day after watering, the soil next to the flower needs to be loosened. In dry summers, it is recommended to moisten the soil under the crop up to 3 times a week.To keep moisture in the soil under the rose longer, mulching is necessary.

The flower needs feeding if it was planted in loamy soil. The fragrant aristocrat is responsive to organic fertilizers and specialized mineral complexes. This event must be carried out 1 time in 10 days.

The hybrid is best planted in slightly acidic chernozem. In such a nutrient medium, it will develop without any problems. If your area has a different type of soil, use a multi-purpose rose potting mix to plant the plant. There should be a drainage layer at the bottom of the planting pit. No more than 5 Nostalgie bushes are planted per 1 square meter. Weeding must be included in flower care.

Before the onset of cold weather, the bush is huddled. You can do without shelter, but in the northern regions it should not be neglected.

Sometimes nostalgia is affected by powdery mildew. To prevent this disease from affecting your pet, carry out preventive treatment of the plant with a fungicide solution twice a season. The crop also needs regular pruning.

Use cases

Nostalgie flowers make wonderful bouquets, appropriate both for a family celebration and for an official event. Single flowering roses of Nostalgia look good in the garden. You can combine them on the site with other tea hybrids, with other perennials. Landscape designers use this flower to decorate mixborders and flower beds.
