Rose Polka Butterfly

Polka Butterfly is a variety of a re-flowering climbing rose of domestic selection. Bred by Zinaida Konstantinovna Klimenko in 2009 for the collection of roses in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden (Republic of Crimea). Harmoniously combines the multicolored color of flowers and the properties of climbing roses.

Rose Polka Butterfly

The plant is lush and spreading, reaching a height of 200 to 300 cm. The shoots are strong and creeping. The foliage is glossy, dark green in color, with an original elongated shape.

The flowers are large, double, 10-11 cm in diameter, contain more than 30 wavy petals. The shape of roses changes during flowering from a rounded-pointed bud to a cup-shaped one. The opened flowers are yellow-orange with pink edges and yellow stamens. As they bloom, they change their color to red with a white center. They grow one at a time or in inflorescences of 7-10 buds. They have a pleasant aroma of tea roses, familiar to us from childhood.

Rose Polka Butterfly

The first bloom is profuse in June, the second is moderate in late summer.

Medium resistance to black spot and powdery mildew.

Polka Butterfly, like any climbing rose, does not like the north wind, close planting, lowland and swampy places. Prefers sun and warmth, fertile and loose soil with good drainage.

The frost resistance of this variety corresponds to USDA zone 6 (minus 23.3 ° C).

Polka Butterfly is an amazing and beautiful variety with chameleon flowers. Lemon-yellow and red buds pleasant to the eye will not leave you indifferent. This rose is perfect for group and single plantings, vertical gardening, decorating outdoor terraces, gazebos and fences. An interesting combination can be obtained by planting it next to varieties such as ‘Red lighthouse', 'Polka', ‘Aloha'and' Golden Climber '. The ‘Golden Border’ and ‘Amber Cover’ floribundas add a sunny tone to the rose garden. Such charming compositions will fill your garden with fragrance and cheer up with their flowering.

My acquaintance with this rose is a fluke. I was looking for a red climbing tree in the market, which would bloom continuously all summer, and they began to offer me Polka Butterfly and praise this variety. It didn't hesitate for long - I already had a peach Polka, all the more intrigued that the flowers were called chameleons. Usually, after all, roses brighten as the flower ages, fading. And here the opposite is true. Pale yellow buds open, then turn peach, the color thickens, turning into orange and red - yes, you can admire such a miracle to plus infinity! Especially when all the shades are on one bush! The scent of this rose is so strong that it spreads throughout our entire quarter. And jam from Butterfly Polka petals keeps this wonderful smell in jars.

Good day! Why write a Formal Review for this or this variety? We need specific information, not “rose petals” lyrics! Actual characteristics: size, where planted, abundance of flowering and disease resistance.
