Plum variety Yakhontovaya

As a rule, there is very little information about new varieties of plums. To get the most complete information about Yakhontova, let's try to combine the data from available sources. She was withdrawn in the Moscow VSTISP. The authors of the variety are well-known breeders - H.K. Enikeev and S. N Satarova. The parental forms were Smolinka and Eurasia 21... The application for registration of the novelty was received in 2002, the date of inclusion in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation is 2008. The plant is approved for cultivation in the Central region of Russia (Bryansk, Tula, Ryazan, Moscow, Smolensk, Ivanovo, Kaluga, Vladimir regions). Has prospects in industrial cultivation.

Description

The tree is fast-growing and vigorous, 5.5 meters high. The tallness of the variety, on the one hand, can be a plus, since the plum gives not only a bountiful harvest, but also a thick shade, for example, in a recreation area. On the other hand, this nuance poses a problem for pollinators. Bigger needs not one, but at least two "neighbors" suitable for pollination. The crown is quite compact in size and has a raised, spherical shape, medium thickening. Shoots at Yakhontova are upright, covered with brown bark, not pubescent. The leaves are light green, elongated-elliptical, long-pointed, with a finely serrated edge. The surface of the plate is matte, not pubescent, slightly wrinkled, has a slight bend along the central vein.

The drupes of the variety are one-dimensional, large, weighing up to 30 grams. The skin is thin, the main and integumentary color is yellow, but at the time of consumer ripeness, a slight blush may appear on the surface. Whitish wax coating. The pulp is tender, juicy, yellow in color. The taste is bright, sweet and sour. Assessment of tasters - 5 points. But some gardeners dispute such a high rating, pointing out that acidity often predominates in the taste. The stone is small, it is separated from the pulp with little effort. 100 grams of raw pulp contains: 15.3% dry matter, 9.0% sugar, 3.5% acid, 14.5 mg vitamin C.

Characteristics

  • Yakhontova's early maturity is high, the tree enters the fruiting period 3-4 years after planting;
  • the ripening period of plums is medium late - fruits ripen in the middle or towards the end of August;
  • you can harvest until the end of September, since ripening is not friendly;
  • the yield is excellent, according to the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation, it leaves 323 c / ha. According to gardeners, one tree can bear from 50 to 70 kg of fruit;
  • the fruitful life of the tree is 15 years;
  • a feature of the variety is the high frost resistance of flower buds and their resistance to recurrent frost;
  • the general frost resistance of the variety in the Moscow region is high, there were no traces of freezing after the difficult winter of 2014 on the wood;
  • Yakhontova's immunity is also high, she has resistance to many diseases of the culture, in particular to gray fruit rot and clasterosporium disease;
  • there is still no definite opinion regarding the drought tolerance of the plum;
  • fruits perfectly withstand transportation over a long distance, are well stored;
  • the way of using the crop is universal. In addition to natural consumption, jam, compote, marmalade, and confiture are made from fruits.

Pollinators

Yakhontovaya is a partially self-fertile culture, and besides, it blooms in the early stages. When choosing pollinators, it is imperative to select early flowering varieties. The varieties Skorospelka red and Hungarian Moscow.

Planting and leaving

Plum planting dates directly depend on the climatic features of the region.If you are not satisfied with the tallness, then you can purchase seedlings on a dwarf or semi-dwarf rootstock. Or, during the formation of the crown, you can cut off the central conductor at the desired height, and then form the plant in breadth. The landing site should be as sunny as possible, then there will be no disagreements about taste. Leaving is no different from the generally accepted one. It is necessary to carry out regular watering and feeding, pruning, weeding and loosening of the trunk circle.

Yakhontovaya is already considered a promising variety even on an industrial scale, although all its characteristics are not fully understood due to a short observation period. Gardeners are pleased with the good winter hardiness of the plum, its high immunity, excellent yield and the possibility of universal use of the crop.
