Plum variety Hungarian Moscow

Moscow Hungarian, or Tsaritsynskaya Hungarian, is an old variety of domestic plums (Prunus domestica) of late ripening. Obtained on the basis of the All-Russian Institute of Selection and Technology of Horticulture and Nursery (FGBNU VSTISP). Previously, it was widespread in the gardens of collective farms in the Leninsky district of the Moscow region (about 20 km from Moscow). Presumably, this is a seedling from free pollination of the domestic Hungarian (ordinary).

In 1947, the variety was sent for state testing. In the same year, it was added to the state register for the Central region (Moscow, Ryazan, Smolensk regions). This variety of Hungarian was included in the standard assortment of the Moscow Region as the main variety.

The trees are medium-sized (2.5 - 3 meters high), fast-growing, form a lot of root growth. The crown is broadly spreading, round-spherical in shape, rather dense, with drooping branches. Leaves are medium in size, elongated, colored green. Shoots of medium thickness, erect, with a reddish tint. Fruiting is concentrated on bouquet branches and annual growth.

Fruits are small to medium in size, weighing 15 to 28 grams, round-oval or ovoid, asymmetric. Fruit color is dark purple-red. The skin is thick, rough, covered with a thick bluish-purple waxy coating, slightly bitter to the taste. The abdominal suture is distinctly expressed. The funnel is of medium depth and width. The peduncle is thin, of medium length. The bones are of medium size, elongated-oval, free, well separated from the pulp.

The pulp is amber-yellow in color, coarse consistency, dense structure, juicy, the taste is mediocre, sweet and sour. Plums are used fresh, but mainly processed (jam, compotes, preserves, drying). Fruit transfer well.

In general, the production and biological properties of this plum are close to Skorospelka red (pink). But nevertheless, the quality of the fruits of Vengerka Moskovskaya surpasses the specified variety, and many other zoned plum varieties. Although southern varieties are significantly inferior in taste.

Early fruiting is bad: trees usually enter the fruiting season in the 6th - 8th year. Flowering takes place in late May - early June. The fruits ripen together, at a later date (second half of September). Moreover, plums, plucked unripe, ripen perfectly in prone, gaining softness and sweetness; do not crack with strong moisture. Fruiting is almost annual, abundant. The yield is above average: from an adult tree, you can collect from 20 to 35 (and sometimes 40) kg of fruits.

Winter hardiness and frost resistance are rated as average. In the harsh winters of 1938 - 1942. the trees were badly damaged and partially even froze out. But a high restorative ability was also noted, largely due to easy reproduction by shoots.

Resistance to fungal diseases is average.

The variety is highly self-fertile and is a good pollinator for other varieties of Plum home. It gives the best yields when planted together with Skorospelka red.

The main advantages of the Vengerka Moscow plum include: good, and in some years, very plentiful harvests; a high degree of self-fertility.

The Moscow Hungarian is very common in our country and is grown in many farmsteads. I also have two trees of this type in the garden. The trees are already quite old, even my father planted them, but they continue to actively bear fruit and delight our family with the harvest.
Especially in this variety, I like the fact that the stone separates very well from the pulp, which makes it easy to process plums and cook a wonderful jam from them. It also makes good prunes.
In our latitudes, this plum winters well, I practically did not notice freezing. In general, I am very satisfied.

Received from Becker honey pear, giant nut, pear apple and honey plum saplings. There is not a single living bud on a plum sapling, and even dry leaves. They sent a dry rputik. I can't get through that day. Do not pick up the phone.

Answer to Stupino

The last time Becker sent me a handful of earth with separate parts of the young and sent me Tradescantia. For 1 (the cheapest) unit, the money was returned, and the losses are much greater.
At least they apologized ...
