Tomato variety Blagovest
The Blagovest tomato is an excellent high-yielding hybrid of the determinant type for indoor use. It can be grown both in glazed and in film greenhouses, but in the open field this warm and light-loving plant is unlikely to give a good harvest.
The tomato feels good on light, highly fertile soils, responsive to regular loosening and feeding, which must be applied three to four times per season. For top dressing, both complex and superphosphate and potassium fertilizers are suitable.
Thanks to the efforts of breeders, the Blagovest variety excellently resists diseases inherent in plants grown in greenhouses - tobacco mosaic virus, cladosporium and fusarium.
This variety is grown in seedlings - under favorable conditions, seedlings appear on the fifth day, and after 45 - 50 days, the seedlings are ready for planting in a permanent place. It is recommended to form the bush into one or two stems - the second is grown from the lateral stepson, located under the first brush, while the rest of the stepsons are ruthlessly removed. Plants need to be tied to horizontal trellises, since the height of the bush often reaches 180 cm.
Like any other plant, the Blagovest tomato needs watering, which is especially important during the period of flowering and ripening of fruits. It is enough to water the tomatoes once every 10 - 14 days; after watering, it is advisable to ventilate the greenhouse.
Subject to planting density of no more than three plants per square meter, Blagovest gives about 5 kilograms of fruit from one bush. Fruiting usually begins 95-100 days after germination. The fruit cluster of this variety consists of 6 - 10 smooth, rounded fruits weighing 100 - 110 grams, distinguished by a bright red color. Due to the good density of tomatoes, they are excellently transported and stored for quite a long time.
Tomato Blagovest has excellent taste, which allows you to eat fresh fruits and use them for canning whole-fruit.
When a greenhouse appeared on my site, the first varieties of tomatoes that I began to grow in them were Verlioka and Blagovest. Since these tomatoes are tall, I sowed the seeds at the end of February. Yes, by the time they are planted, they somewhat outgrow and stretch, but it does not matter, after a couple of weeks the seedlings take root and grow stronger. The message is very high, spreading, it is imperative to tie up and pinch. Form a bush in two stems. There were three plants per square meter. The fruits are very even, very suitable for canning in jars. But they didn't really like the taste - they were sour. But, perhaps, this is because she plucked them from the bush brown and "ripened". The yield is good, I would say, for our conditions, but now I do not plant these varieties, since many other interesting ones have appeared on sale.
This variety came to me by accident - I love tomatoes with other characteristics and I would never buy such seeds myself, but a neighbor shared the seedlings with me (seed germination was good, so I had to add surplus). I divided the seedlings into 2 parts - I planted one in a greenhouse, the second in open ground - I’ll say right away, in the wild Blagovest showed itself badly (ankle, uncomfortable, fruit set is low), in a greenhouse the situation is different - this tomato is ideal for such cultivation - it grows to 1 , 8 m, with the correct garter (you need to tie both the bush and the fruit brushes) and formation (pinching and removing the stepsons) showed a record harvest: the fruit brushes literally burst from even, bright red fruits of the same weight! I also liked the variety for its excellent health - diseases do not stick to it, and even the Colorado beetles did not like it.
