Tomato variety Olya (F1)

It is possible and necessary to grow tomatoes all year round. For this, there are many varieties, including the time-tested hybrid Olya. An application for its registration in 1997 was submitted by the Ilyinichna Seed Breeding Company LLC and the Federal Research Center for Vegetable Growing. In the same year, the novelty was entered into the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia with admission in all regions. Recommended for garden plots, home gardens and small farms for growing in open and closed ground. Due to its early maturity, it is suitable for spring-summer, winter-spring and extended revolutions. It is a hybrid, therefore it must be marked with F1.

Description

The plant belongs to superdeterminate, 90 - 100 cm high, in a greenhouse - 120 cm. Shoot-forming ability is weak, leafiness is moderate. The stem is not very thick, the internodes are not long. The bush looks compact. Leaves are short, petiolate, double-pinnate, slightly wrinkled, light green in color. The inflorescence is simple, intermediate structure. The first fruit cluster is laid over 7 - 9 leaves. The following inflorescences can form in internodes or through 1 leaf. The peculiarity of Olya is that the brush is formed not one, but two or three at once, and so on along the entire height of the stem. Thanks to this, the variety has high yield rates. In total, during the growing season, the plant forms 12 - 15 clusters of 7 fruits each. The peduncle is articulated.

Tomatoes are visually attractive, one-dimensional, round in shape, with a slight ribbing. The skin is not thick, but firm, slightly shiny. The unripe fruit is light green, and may have a spot near the stalk. Ripe is filled with a rich red color. The weight of the fetus, according to the State Register, is 180 grams, according to other sources - 100 - 120 grams. The pulp is moderately firm, fleshy, juicy. Number of seed nests - 3 - 4. Good taste. But the taste still depends on the ripening time. If the crop was formed during a cold season, the tomatoes will have a distinct sourness, and the crop formed during a sunny and warm season will be sweet.

On sale are tomato seeds from the SeDeK company under the name Olya SeDeK F1. It belongs to the mid-season, with a ripening period of 110 - 115 days. Fruit weight - 120 - 150 grams, maximum weight 300 grams. According to the description, the plant is determinant, 60 - 70 cm high. But the rest of the characteristics are very similar to the hybrid Olya from "Ilyinichna".

Variety characteristics

  • In terms of ripening, the variety is early maturing, it can even be called ultra-ripe. In the spring-summer turnover, ripening occurs at 90 - 100 days, if you count from the moment of emergence. In the extended turnover, maturation begins on day 105;
  • tomatoes ripen together, so the fruiting period will not be delayed;
  • the yield is excellent - in the spring-summer turnover it is 10 - 15 kg per 1 square meter, in the extended turnover, when grown in winter greenhouses - 26 - 27 kg per 1 square meter. meter (according to the State Register);
  • excellent cold resistance is a distinctive feature inherent in this particular species. Olya can form the first flower clusters even when the night temperature drops to 7 ° C. Under these conditions, other hybrids simply shed their flower clusters. True, the ovaries will not develop until the thermometer rises to 15 ° C. Thanks to this quality, the variety is excellent for regions where return cold is a common occurrence;
  • heat tolerance is another plus of our heroine, which allows the crop to form in conditions of high temperatures, when other species freeze in their development. Therefore, the described variety is a welcome guest in the gardens of the southern regions;
  • the immunity of tomato is high, the plant is especially good at resisting diseases that destroy crops in greenhouses - brown spot, tobacco mosaic virus, fusarium, fusarium neck rot and verticillosis. The variety is highly resistant to rootworm nematodes. Relative resistance to cladosporium disease;
  • good tolerance to low light allows you to grow tomatoes in unlit film or carbonate greenhouses;
  • excellent transportability, elastic fruits do not lose their presentation, keeping quality is also high;
  • purpose - fresh use. But Oli's summer harvest lends itself well to canning, pickling (especially green tomatoes), pickling.

Agrotechnics

The variety is unpretentious and perfect even for a novice gardener. There are no wisdom in growing. It is preferable to plant in seedlings, then the harvest is formed faster. Sowing for seedlings is usually carried out in March, planting in the ground - in May. When growing tomatoes in extended circulation in a greenhouse, there are some rules that must be followed strictly. After planting seedlings and before the start of fruiting Oli, the soil moisture should be about 70 - 75%, during the fruiting period this indicator slightly increases - up to 80%. Moreover, the total air humidity should not exceed 60 - 70%. To maintain the recommended parameters, ventilation of the premises or normal ventilation is carried out (but care must be taken that doors or transoms open from the leeward side to avoid drafts). In the open field, the care is usual - watering, feeding, weeding and loosening. Form the plant into one stem. Passing is carried out only before the formation of the first brush. Planting density - up to 7 plants per 1 square meter. Seedling planting scheme - 40 cm between bushes and 50 cm row spacing.

The Olya hybrid perfectly combines qualities valuable for the culture - early maturity, high yield, excellent immunity, cold resistance and heat resistance. The variety really liked the farmers who grow tomatoes for sale, because, in addition to excellent characteristics, the fruits have an excellent presentation. The only drawback is the need for the annual purchase of seed.
