The leaves are dark green, narrowly oval in shape, with a strongly pointed tip and a sharp base, the edges are double-serrated serrated. A lamina with a glossy surface, folded in the shape of a boat. The fruits of the Turgenevka cherry are large (weight - 4 - 5 g, height - 2.1 cm, width - 2 cm, thickness - 1.8 cm), wide-heart-shaped, with a rounded top and a middle funnel. The skin of ripe specimens is colored maroon. The pulp is dense, juicy, dark red in color, and sweet-sourish in taste. Tasting assessment of the taste of fresh berries - 3.7 points. Peduncles of medium thickness and length (up to 5.1 cm). The seeds are cream-colored, oval in shape, with pointed tips and a rounded base, weighing 0.4 g (approximately 8% of the berry weight). The separation of the bone from the pulp is good. The separation of the fruit from the stalk is semi-dry. Fruits fully ripen from 5 to 15 July. Fruiting of the variety is concentrated on bouquet branches.

Yields are regular, high: an average of 10 - 12 kg of berries (or 613 kg / ha) are harvested from one young tree, adult cherries bring a maximum of 20 - 25 kg of fruits (or up to 200 kg / ha).

By chemical composition, the berries contain: dry soluble substances (16.2%), the amount of sugars (11.17%), acids (1.51%). The use of the variety is universal (fresh, processing into juices, compotes, wine, tinctures, syrups, liqueurs, fruit drinks, preserves, etc.).

The level of early maturity is good: trees enter the fruiting season in the 4th - 5th year.

Turgenevka is a partially self-fertile cherry, however, the degree of its self-pollination is rather low. Therefore, to increase yields, it is recommended to plant other pollinator varieties in the neighborhood: Lyubskaya, Melitopol joy, Youth, Favorite. With good pollination, the branches are literally strewn with fruits and lean to the ground under the weight of the harvest.

The level of winter hardiness of trees is generally quite high. But the generative buds in this aspect showed only an average result - they tolerate frosts only up to minus 35 ° C.

The variety is moderately resistant to such common fungal diseases of cherries as moniliosis and coccomycosis.

The main advantages of the Turgenevka variety include: large fruits, frost resistance, good annual yield.

Among the significant disadvantages: insufficiently high level of winter hardiness in flower buds, with early picking, the berries do not have time to pick up sweets and have a mediocre sour taste.
