Trees are medium-sized (height - up to 2 - 3.5 m), spherical crown, medium leafy, medium thickened. With good care, the annual growth of seedlings reaches 50 - 70 cm. Shoots are of medium length, straight, brown-brown in color. The buds are pressed to the shoot, pointed, conical in shape, colored reddish-brown. Leaves are large, elliptical, short-pointed, not pubescent, with a large serrate edge, dark green. The leaf blade is smooth, flat, with a rounded base and a gradually tapered apex. Stipules of medium size, with a strong dissection, fall off early. Petioles are medium in length and thickness. Abundant flowering. The flowers are large, white. Fruit ovaries are formed on bouquet branches and last year's growths.

The fruits of the Kharitonovskaya cherry are large in size (the average weight of a berry is 5 grams, height - 1.8 cm, diameter - 1.6 cm), one-dimensional, rounded, with a shallow funnel, middle fossa, rounded apex; base with a recess. The skin is of medium thickness, rich dark red color, not pubescent, with an average number of subcutaneous dots. The pulp is delicate, red-orange in color. The juice is light red. The taste of cherries is pronounced sweet and sour (according to the tasting scale - 4.75 points). The peduncles are of medium length and thickness, with a strong attachment to the stone, the separation from the branches is good. The seeds are free, medium in size, oval in shape, easily separated from the pulp.

By chemical composition, the fruits contain: dry matter (15.0%), the amount of sugars (6.8%), acids (1.48%), ascorbic acid (11.0 mg / 100 g). A universal variety: berries are eaten fresh, dried, canned. The fruits are used to prepare syrups, compotes, wines, extracts, liqueurs, tinctures, preserves, and jams. The level of transportability is average.

The trees enter the fruiting season 3 years after planting.

Cherry Kharitonovskaya is distinguished by an increased level of resistance to coccomycosis and moniliosis. Winter hardiness of the variety is generally good.

This cherry is partially self-fertile. Among the best pollinators, the following varieties are distinguished: Vladimirskaya, Zhukovskaya.

The most suitable soil for planting seedlings of this variety: loose sandy loam soil with good drainage and a neutral pH level. In addition, it is necessary to add nutrients to the soil during digging (organic, phosphorus and potash fertilizers). With acidic, soddy-podzolic soil, the procedure for liming it is mandatory, otherwise the seedlings may not take root.

The best place to disembark: south, well-lit side. Minimum groundwater level: 1.5 m from the topsoil. Gentle slopes (especially on a hill), places near the fence, households are suitable. buildings. For seedlings, sunlight is very important: with a lack of it, the trees stretch more upward, but bear fruit poorly.

Among the main advantages of the Kharitonovskaya variety: high quality fruits, stable yields, moderate growth rates of trees, resistance to fungal diseases.

Speaking about the shortcomings of this cherry, they indicate a very large stone size. And as for frost resistance: despite a lot of positive reviews, there are also cases of trees freezing in certain regions.Gardeners especially question the hardiness of flower buds.

I like this variety very much. The size of a cherry, the berries are sweet and sour (such an indistinct characteristic). I'll try to decipher. I got used from childhood that cherries are sour berries, eat a little - the rest is for jam, but we consume Kharitonovskaya only "live")). And taking into account the massive spread of fungal diseases of cherries, this variety is simply salvation. I was surprised that there are no admiring reviews, so I am writing. I recommend to friends and acquaintances. All the neighbors have already acquired them.
