Ground - an autumn apple variety, bred at the South Ural Research Institute of Horticulture and Potato Growing through hybridization of the Vydubetskaya Plakuchaya variety with a complex hybrid form 1−63−197. The variety was most widespread in the Ural region, where it was zoned. The authors of the variety are a group of domestic breeders: M.A. Mazunin, N.F. Mazunin and V. And Putyanin.

Trees - natural dwarfs, flat-round crown. On a seed rootstock, a tree can reach a height of 2.5 meters, and on a vegetatively propagated clonal rootstock - 1.5 - 2 meters. A peculiarity of the crown is also the branching off in a natural horizontal direction (but this is not a stanza!). The ends of the branches are directed upward. The bark on the trunk and main branches is brown in color. Apple trees bear fruit on all types of fruit wood, including last year's growth.

Shoots are greenish-brown in color and of medium thickness. The leaves are rather large, oblong-oval, boat-shaped, with finely crested edges, slightly fleecy.

The size of the fruits is less than average, the weight of one apple usually ranges from 90 to 110 g, the smallest fruits weigh a little more than 70 g, the largest rarely reach 150 g. The apples are round, slightly flattened in shape. The skin on the fruit is smooth, oily, with a glossy sheen. Apples are greenish-yellow according to the main color, the integumentary color occupies most of the surface of the fruit in the form of a dark red blush. The peduncles are of medium length and thickness, and are set at an angle.

The pulp is greenish in color, dense, fine-grained structure, very juicy. Apples have a good sweet and sour taste. By chemical composition, the fruits contain: the sum of sugars (10.4%), soluble solids (14.6%), titratable acids (0.7%), pectin substances (1.3% on wet weight), ascorbic acid ( 18.9 mg / 100 g). The storage period for fruits usually does not exceed 2 months (up to 60 days). In addition to fresh consumption, apples of this variety are often used for technological processing into juices, compotes, preserves and jams.

The Lantern apple tree is partially self-fertile. The best pollinators for her can be varieties: Bratchud, Carpet, Autumn stunted and Wonderful.

The variety is fast-growing, fruiting begins in the 2nd - 3rd year after grafting. The trees bear fruit regularly. The maximum yield indicator reaches 130 kg of fruits per tree. The level of winter hardiness is quite high (up to minus 39.5 ° C). In epiphytotic years, the scab attack reaches 2 points.

It is generally accepted that in order to obtain sweet fruits, the sum of effective temperatures in the summer period must be at least 2200 ° C, otherwise the apples "do not get" sugar.

The main advantages of the Prizemlennye variety are: compactness and small size of apple trees (natural dwarfs), high rates of early maturity and productivity, a sufficient level of winter hardiness, a very fast vegetative period (155 - 160 days).

The main disadvantages include: insufficiently large size of fruits, in some years during the storage period of apples, darkening of the pulp is possible.

It is also worth noting that this variety is often used by breeders in their work when breeding new varieties of naturally undersized apple trees.

I have a Land under the Nurture growing, the branches are spreading.Fertile early, the apples are not rough, the harvest is good, I did not understand the taste, for some reason they are loose, maybe due to early frosts, they are almost on the ground. Does not freeze - Krasnoyarsk, frosts every winter are below 40 ...

Tell me how to prune such a tree? I have Bratchud and Land, the seedlings are already 2 years old. The tree has two main branches at the top of the trunk, they are spread out in different directions, like sleeves. The height of the trunk is about one meter.
