Pear variety Akademicheskaya

Akademicheskaya - an early autumn pear of the selection of the Moscow Agricultural Academy. K. A. Timiryazeva. The genetic origin of the variety has not been established. The authorship is assigned to S.T. Chizhov, S.P. Potapov, N.V. Agafonov and A.V. Isachkin. Since 1997, the variety is on the State test. Recommended for testing in the Central Region.

The trees are medium-sized, the crown is compact in size, rather dense, in shape - wide-pyramidal. The Akademicheskaya pear is characterized by a mixed type of fruiting; fruit setting often occurs on all types of fruit wood.

Fruits of medium and large size (the weight of one pear averages 130 - 150 g, but the largest specimens can grow up to 250 g), slightly bumpy, broad-pear-shaped in shape. The main color of the pear is yellow, the integumentary color is expressed on the entire surface of the fruit through an intense maroon blush. Outwardly, the fruits look very beautiful (no worse Elegant Efimova). The funnel is rather shallow and narrow in shape. The saucer is small, wide, ribbed. The stalks are straight, thick, medium in length.

The pulp is white, semi-oily consistency, dense structure, very juicy, slightly aromatic, with a pleasant wine-sweet taste. A variety of universal use.

The fruits ripen in early September (before the 10th). Ripe pears are firmly held on the branches and are not prone to shedding. Store in a refrigerator for up to 2 - 3 weeks.

Early fruiting pear Academic high: trees begin to bear fruit in the 3rd - 4th year. Average yield (up to 50 kg per tree). Winter hardiness is above average (when grown on a stem or skeleton). The variety is scab resistant. In wet years, it is affected by fruit rot. Prone to self-fertility.

The obvious advantages of this pear are: very large and elegant fruits with a pleasant taste, early maturity, resistance to scab.

The disadvantages include the dense crown of trees.
