Pear variety Skorospelka from Michurinsk

Early ripening from Michurinsk is a pear with fruits of an early summer ripening period, bred at the All-Russian Research Institute of Genetics and Breeding of Fruit Plants named after V.I. I.V. Michurina through crossing a hybrid form (Ussuri Pear x Bere Ligel) with the Citron de Carme variety. The authorship is assigned to S.P. Yakovlev and A.P. Gribanovsky. In 1986, the variety was accepted for State testing. Zoned in the Central and Middle Volga regions. Also recommended for variety testing in the Central Black Earth Region.

The trees are rather large or medium-sized in size, with fast growth rates. The crown is compact, medium thickened, pyramidal or round-pyramidal in shape. Skeletal branches form sharp corners when they leave the trunk. The bark is a flaky type.

Shoots are straight, light brown in color. Lentils are few in number. The leaves are of medium size, ovoid, with broad-pointed tips, the edges are serrate-toothed, the angle of the leaves is close to a straight line. The leaf blade has a wedge-shaped base and is horizontal. Petioles are rather thin, medium in length.

The petals are overlapping, white in color, the sepals are located towards the pedicel. Flowering takes place early. A good pollinator for Skorospelka from Michurinsk can be the Pamyati Yakovlev variety.

The fruits are below average and smaller (the average weight of one pear is 70 g, maximum 80 - 84 g) and the correct round-pear-shaped (ovoid) shape. At the moment of ripening, the fruits are colored greenish-yellow; during the period of consumer maturity, the fruits brighten and acquire a characteristic yellow color. The cover color can be expressed on the sunny side of the fruit through a faint blurry pink blush or is completely absent. The skin is smooth, with slight rustiness. Peduncles are of medium length and thickness, curved in shape. The funnel is very small or absent. The cup is of medium size, half-open type. The saucer is small. Elliptical heart. The sub-cup tube is short.

The pulp is creamy, rather loose in consistency, tender, very juicy, good sour-sweet taste, not tart, slightly aromatic, without granulation. By chemical composition, the fruits contain: the sum of sugars (8.2%), titratable acids (0.78%), ascorbic acid (or vitamin C = 13.5 mg / 100 g), P-active substances (120 mg / 100 d). The purpose of the fruit is universal (fresh, conservation, etc.).

Among all known varieties of pears, Skorospelka from Michurinsk remains the earliest, the fruits ripen in the third decade of July (in Michurinsk conditions, it is often from 15 to 20 July). The consumption period does not last long: 5 - 7 days under normal conditions, up to 2 weeks when stored in the refrigerator.

The early maturity of the variety is at an average level, fruiting begins in the 5th year after planting in the garden. Trees bear fruit regularly, every year. Productivity is high: harvests alternate from abundant to medium, from 10-year-old trees harvested up to 100 centners / ha. The variety is highly winter-hardy, it is not affected by scab.

Among the main advantages of the Skorospelka pear from Michurinsk are: a very early ripening period, good taste, high winter hardiness and productivity, scab resistance.

The main disadvantages include: crushing of fruits with abundant harvests (in size - no more than a chicken egg), a tendency to defeat by moniliosis.

During dry summers, trees need regular watering, otherwise the fruit will taste astringency.

It should also be borne in mind that the taste of the fruits of this pear is still average, and the yield is very high. Experienced gardeners say that if this variety is used exclusively for personal consumption (and not for sale), then it is not always worth planting a whole tree, it is enough to graft 3 - 5 branches to another tree.

Already in the middle of summer, this pear gives a harvest. The fruit is medium in size and very sweet. There is one peculiarity in them: when the pear is of salad color, it means that it is already ripe, and when it turns yellow, it already starts to deteriorate in the middle of the fruit. One disadvantage is that they are not stored. But on the other hand, excellent dried fruits are obtained from them. And everyone knows that dried fruits contain more vitamins than canned fruits. Fruits not picked in time rot right on the tree. Abundant fruiting is provided by the variety in large volume.
