Cucumber variety Atlantis (F1)
Atlantis is an early ripening cucumber hybrid from the Dutch agricultural firm Bejo Zaden B.V.. Can be used for growing both in open and protected ground. In 2000, it was added to the state register of the Russian Federation for all regions. Designed for private garden plots, home gardens and small farms.
Variety Atlantis bee-pollinated, predominantly female flowering type. The period from sowing seeds to fruiting is 46 - 52 days.
Plants are medium-sized, climbing, indeterminate (do not require pollination). Leaves are medium to less than medium in size, green in color, medium to strongly wrinkled.
Cucumbers are cylindrical, ribbed, with large tubercles, 12 - 14 cm long, 3 - 3.5 cm in diameter, weighing 120 - 130 grams; the ratio of fruit length to diameter is 3.2: 1. The skin is dark green (lighter shade closer to the top), with spots and white stripes. Pubescence is white, of medium density. Pulp without bitterness. The yield of marketable fruits is 12 - 14 kg / square meter. The fruits do not lose their presentation for 10 - 14 days. The selection of zelents should be carried out daily
A universal variety - used fresh, in summer salads and for preparations for the winter. The taste of fresh and canned products is good.
The hybrid is highly resistant to brown spot (cladosporium), cucumber mosaic virus and powdery mildew, moderately resistant to downy mildew. Differs in cold resistance. It adapts well to various growing conditions.
Advantages of Atlantis cucumber: inexpensive seeds, high palatability of fruits, resistance to diseases, high keeping quality, productivity and marketability.
For me, this variety is a veteran of cucumber beds. When the Dutch cucumbers just started to appear, Atlantis was popular until our gardeners tried others, which he lost in all respects. Having met the seeds in the store, I was even surprised that the variety is still alive. Probably because of the affordable price, because he does not go to the greenhouse - he needs bees. I remember perfectly how the yield fell when the hives were taken out for the period of flowering of acacia and linden. There were so few cucumbers, even if you manually pollinate! The advantage of this cucumber is its excellent keeping quality. But it is achieved at the expense of smallness. You need to have good teeth for this cucumber - it is very hard, almost oak. For barrel salting, it is simply ideal - it will remain crispy under any conditions. I do not deny resistance to diseases of pumpkin seeds. But spider mites simply attack the leaves, reducing fruiting to a couple of weeks.
