Cucumber variety Far East 27
Far Eastern 27 is an old medium-ripening cucumber variety that is still in demand among gardeners. Obtained by the method of multiple individual selection from the local population at the Far Eastern Research Institute of Agriculture (Khabarovsk Territory, Vostochnoye village). Designed for growing in open ground and under film shelters. Introduced into the state register of the Russian Federation in 1950 for the Far Eastern region (Amur, Kamchatka, Magadan, Sakhalin regions, Primorsky and Khabarovsk territories). The author of the variety is E.A. Gamayunov.
The variety is bee-pollinated. The period from germination to fruiting is 40 - 55 days.
Plants are long-leaved, branched. The leafiness is below average, which makes it easier to pick the fruit.
Cucumbers are elongated-ellipsoid, medium-lumpy, 11-15 cm long, weighing 100-200 grams. The skin is green, with long, longitudinal white stripes and a slight waxy coating. Pubescence is rare. The thorns are black. Productivity - 1 - 3 kg / square meter. Fruiting lasts until autumn.
A variety for universal use. It is appreciated by gardeners for the very high taste qualities of fresh and canned fruits. Cucumbers do not lose their properties within 1 - 2 days.
It is characterized by drought resistance, therefore it can be grown in elevated areas where there is a lack of moisture. Also resistant to downy mildew and night frost.
Advantages of Far Eastern 27 cucumber: excellent taste properties of fruits, cheap seeds, long-term fruiting, resistance to stressful conditions.
The disadvantages include: a large number of barren flowers, fruits not harvested in time quickly outgrow and turn yellow (turn brown), often hollow. However, it should be noted that yellowed fruits do not lose their taste.
