Cucumber variety True friends (F1)
Faithful friends - an early ripening hybrid of a cucumber, obtained by breeders of the Manul agricultural firm (Mytishchi). In 2000, it was added to the state register of the Russian Federation in all regions. Recommended for use in garden plots, household and small farms. The authors of the variety are O.N. Krylov and A.V. Borisov.
The variety is bee-pollinated, with bundle formation of ovaries. Designed for growing in open ground and spring film greenhouses. The period from the emergence of seedlings to the collection of the first fruits is 37 - 39 days.
Plants are climbing, weakly growing, slightly branched, indeterminate, predominantly female flowering type. Leaves are slightly wrinkled, green, medium in size. In one leaf sinus, from 1 - 3 to 5 - 8 or more ovaries are formed. Planting density in a greenhouse - 3 plants / square meter, in open ground - 4 - 5 plants / square meter.
Zelentsy are oval-cylindrical (wide at the base), with large tubercles, 8-10 cm long, 3.5-4.1 cm in diameter, weighing 90-110 grams. The skin is green, with white stripes reaching the middle of the fruit, and a whitish top. Pubescence is rare. The thorns are black. Pulp without bitterness. In the open field, the yield of marketable fruits is 2.5 - 3 kg / m2.
The variety is universal. The palatability of fresh and canned fruits is good.
The Faithful Friends cucumber is relatively cold-resistant. Resistant to brown spot (cladosporium) and cucumber mosaic virus; tolerant of powdery mildew and downy mildew. Due to the weak branching, the formation of plants is practically not required.
Usually, in a pack with the seeds of this hybrid, you can find colored seeds - these are the seeds of the pollinator variety in the amount of 10% of the total mass of the seeds.
Last year I sowed True friends. The harvest was excellent, we ate our cucumbers all season. The summer was dry, but they were planted closer to the fence, there was a shadow there for a long time and saved them from drought. I tried to pick cucumbers for pickling every other day, otherwise they will outgrow, then they are suitable for the economy. Bitter cucumbers did not come across to me. Now we are eating our preparations, cucumbers one to one, and the taste is awesome. This year I will definitely plant this variety, well, so as not to get sick, we alternate, for two years in a row we do not plant in one place.
Every year we plant several new varieties - "for trial", but we sow the seeds of the "True Friends" cucumber every year - this is an old (for us old), proven and very reliable variety. We sow the seeds of all cucumbers directly into the ground - when the soil warms up well, we sow the first batch, and when the first leaf appears on these seedlings, we carry out additional sowing - this time we sow "True Friends". So - the variety grows so quickly that the seedlings catch up with the first batch and the fruits are tied before them! This cucumber practically does not get sick, but there is an unpleasant feature - the plants quickly "grow old". In this case, I rejuvenate them: I cut off all the leaves, spud them high, feed them with nitrogen fertilizer and water them abundantly - literally a week later, bundles of buds appear in the leaf sinuses, and there it is not long before the fruits appear. Zelentsy are always even, of the same size (calibrated), crispy, juicy, with a thin skin.
