Cucumber variety Claudia (F1)
Claudia is a mid-ripening parthenocarpic cucumber hybrid intended for outdoor cultivation. Suitable for cultivation on a balcony or windowsill, because withstands shading well. The period from germination to the first harvest of fruits is 45 - 52 days. In 1999, the variety was included in the state register of the Russian Federation. Approved for use in the Nizhnevolzhsky (Astrakhan, Saratov, Volgograd regions, the Republic of Kalmykia) and the North Caucasus (Rostov Region, Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories, the Republics of Adygea, Dagestan, Chechen, North Ossetia-Alania, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria) regions.
Plants are climbing, indeterminate (the growth of the lash is not limited by the flower brush), mainly of the female type of flowering, with bundled ovaries; leafiness is average. Leaves are green, slightly wrinkled. Three or more ovaries are formed in one leaf sinus.
Zelentsy are cylindrical, leveled, slightly ribbed, covered with small tubercles, 10 - 12 cm long, 3 - 4 cm in diameter, weighing 65 - 90 grams. The skin is green to dark green in color, with mild spots and short light stripes reaching up to a third of the fruit. Frequent pubescence. The thorns are white, not prickly. The fruit is round in cross section. The pulp is slightly sweet, juicy, of good taste, crispy, aromatic, without bitterness. The seeds are small, even in overgrown cucumbers. Marketable yield under favorable conditions - up to 20 kg / square meter and more. The output of marketable products is 80 - 92%, which is at the level of standard varieties and hybrids. Collecting greens is carried out every day, and with abundant fruiting, and twice a day, which increases the productivity of plants. This hybrid bears fruit before frost.
Twin Cucumbers - Claudia and Heap Mala
Productivity of marketable products of Claudia cucumber by region:
1) Lower Volga region - 214 - 476 c / ha, which is 83 - 168 c / ha higher than the standards of Dean and Druzhina. The maximum yield is 525 c / ha, which is 49 c / ha higher than the Brigadny standard (data for the Saratov region).
2) North Caucasus region - 159 - 252 c / ha, which is 51 - 115 c / ha higher than the Brigadny and Competitor... The maximum yield is 322 c / ha, which is 31 c / ha higher than the Competitor's standard (data for the Stavropol Territory).
The hybrid is characterized by the amicable return of an early harvest. The yield of early production in the regions is 35 - 105 c / ha, which is 30 - 55 c / ha higher than that of standard varieties.
A variety of universal use. Zelentsy are suitable for fresh consumption and all types of processing. Due to the size of the fruit, they are suitable for canning in small jars. They keep their shape well in salting.
Advantages of Claudia cucumber: high palatability of fruits, amicable return of an early harvest, complex resistance to diseases, stable yield, resistance to sudden temperature fluctuations.
The disadvantages include the thermophilicity of the variety - when the temperature drops, fruiting stops. Therefore, in the northern regions, it must be grown in a greenhouse.
The variety is very good, the taste is excellent!
I heard about this variety as a non-bitter cucumber. I decided to plant it this year, both with seeds in the ground and with seedlings. Planted Claudia from various manufacturers. The harvest pleased me.Cucumbers I grew under the greenhouse. Despite the fact that the summer was cold, this did not interfere with harvesting every day. There were many fruits, absolutely non-bitter, with a thin skin. I can't say anything about the early harvest, as I was unlucky with the summer. In late May - early June, there were night frosts, so the planting had to be postponed until mid-June 2017. Therefore, we tried the first cucumbers only in early July.
I tried many different varieties. In the end, I stopped and chose several. The main one is Claudia. I buy processed seeds, plant cucumbers in a polycarbonate greenhouse and outdoors, in greenhouses under a covering material. This year I planted it in early May. Now on May 21, cucumbers have 3-4 true leaves, despite the fact that at night the temperature drops to +5 degrees. In the greenhouse, the door is always open, but cucumbers grow well. Seed germination is good, all but one emerged from the bag. And then maybe the ants ate it. Satisfied with taste. I also use this variety for canning.
