Cucumber variety Cedric (F1)
Cedric is an early ripening cucumber hybrid obtained by the Dutch company Enza Zaden. In 2015 it was included in the state register of the Russian Federation in all regions. Recommended for growing in foil and glazed greenhouses.
Parthenocarpic variety (does not require bee pollination). Suitable for first and second turnover, including late sowing in heated greenhouses. The period from germination to fruiting is 40 - 45 days.
Plants are medium-branchy, female flowering type, with a powerful root system, indeterminate (the growth of the central stem is not limited by the flower race). Leaves are green in color, medium in size. In one node, from 2 to 4 cucumbers are formed. The optimal number of fruits poured at the same time on a plant is no more than 3 - 5 pieces. Planting density 2.8 - 3.5 plants / square meter.
Cedric is very productive, therefore it requires an increased background of mineral nutrition.
When forming in plants, the first 5 - 6 leaf sinuses are blinded (all stepsons and ovaries are removed). If the weather is cloudy, then the blinding is carried out in the first 7 - 8 nodes. Then the plant is led into one stem to the trellis itself, that is, all side shoots are removed, leaving only the ovaries. Upon reaching the horizontal trellis, the main stem is wrapped around it a couple of times and pinched after another 3 - 5 leaves appear on it, in the axils of which short lateral shoots will grow. As the lower leaves age, they are removed in the morning.
Fruits are elongated-cylindrical, medium tuberous. The mass of the greenery is 100 - 110 grams, the length is 12 - 14 cm; fruit length to diameter ratio - 3.7: 1. The skin is dark green, evenly colored, with or without very short light stripes. Pubescence is of medium density. The thorns are white. The main crop Cedric gives in the first month of fruiting. The yield of marketable fruits is 14 - 15 kg / square meter. Cucumbers can be harvested at the gherkin stage (5 - 8 cm).
A universal variety - suitable for fresh consumption and canning.
This hybrid sets fruit perfectly and does not shed the ovary under stressful conditions - during temperature changes and in a lack of light. Highly resistant to olive spot (cladosporium), moderately resistant to cucumber mosaic virus, powdery mildew and cucumber vascular yellowing virus. It adapts well to high concentrations of salts in the substrate, which allows it to be cultivated in regions with increased soil salinity.
Advantages of the Cedric variety: excellent taste, high presentation of fruits, high yield.
