Cucumber variety Crane (F1)
Crane is a bee-pollinated hybrid of an early maturing cucumber. The period from germination to fruiting is 41 - 45 days, before the first harvest - 48 - 54 days. Bred in the state scientific institution "Crimean Experimental Breeding Station" (Krasnodar Territory). In 1996, the variety was added to the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation. Approved for use in the Central Chernozem, Volgo-Vyatka, North Caucasian, East Siberian, West Siberian, Ural and Lower Volga regions. Suitable for growing both outdoors and in greenhouses.
Climbing plants. The main stem reaches a length of 150 - 190 cm, gives up to 3 - 5 lateral shoots.
Zelentsy are leveled, elliptical, ribbed, without a neck, with large tubercles, 11 - 12 cm long, 3.6 - 4 cm in diameter, weighing 80 - 110 grams. The skin is thin, green, with white blurred stripes reaching the middle of the fruit. Pubescence is frequent, spines are black, prickly. The pulp is crispy, tender, sweetish. Hollow cucumbers are almost never found. 4 - 5 fruits are formed in one node. Fruiting lasts until autumn frosts. The yield reaches 7 - 10 kg / m2.
This variety is resistant to bacteriosis, common cucumber mosaic and powdery mildew, tolerant to downy mildew (peronosporosis).
Universal hybrid. Due to its fruit size and taste, it is perfect for pickling and pickling. For blanks, not overripe fruits are picked, but not harvested on time are consumed fresh in salads.
Pluses of cucumber Crane: high yield, excellent taste of fruits, disease resistance, inexpensive seeds.
When I just started growing cucumbers, I faced the problem of the frequent bitterness of their fruits. On the packaging of the variety Zhuravlenok F1 it was written that its fruits are not bitter. In the spring I sowed seeds and was pleasantly surprised by the result. They rose together (though I always germinate the seeds before planting), the harvest was excellent, even though other cucumbers did not bear fruit well that summer.
The palatability proved to be universal. The density of the skin is medium. Cucumbers are great for salads, pickling and pickling (not hollow). There is really no bitterness, only for this it is necessary not to forget about watering in hot weather. Somehow I decided to plant this variety in the middle of summer. Harvested until the frost. Since then, experimenting with new varieties, I have been growing Crane every year.
Cucumbers Crane is a bee-pollinated variety. And I was afraid that there would be one wasteland. Fortunately, the fears were in vain, there were many ovaries. Cucumbers are small in size, tasty and without bitterness. Since they grew with me without a trellis, straw was laid under the lash. And also covered the roots. The moisture holds well and the cucumbers are clean. In early August, the leaves began to dry, although they watered abundantly, and the ovaries began to fall off.
But in two months of fruiting, I made preparations for the winter, and even so they ate. Next season I will try to plant the Crane in two stages: in April and June.
