Rose Tchaikovsky
Tchaikovsky is a French variety of Grandiflora rose. Bred in Meilland International kennel in 2000. The registration name is 'MEIchibon'. Cross (‘Anthony Meilland’ x ‘Landora’) and ‘Centenaire de Lourdes’ floribunda pollen. Introduced in the United States by Star Roses & Plants in 2003. Introduced in Australia by Corporate Roses in 2004 as 'Maggie Tabberer'.
The plant is well-thickened, strong, erect, reaches a height of 110 - 185 cm, in width - about 60 cm. The leaves are semi-gloss, dark green in color.
The flowers are densely double, 8 - 9 cm in diameter, contain more than 40 petals. The shape of roses changes during flowering from a conical bud to a rosette one. Unopened pistachio bud with pink crown. The opened flowers are creamy with a pale apricot center. They grow one at a time or are collected in a brush up to three buds. Tchaikovsky has a mild aroma. Flowering lasts from June to September.
USDA frost resistance zone: 6b (up to minus 20 ° C). Despite the resistance to low temperatures, the plants must be hilled and covered for the winter. For shelter, sawdust, coniferous paws or oak leaves are used. Before sheltering, the shoots are cut and the topsoil is loosened to provide air access to the rose bushes.
This rose prefers fertile, well-drained (easily permeable to air and moisture) soils, as well as planting in areas that are well-lit and protected from northern winds. It is necessary to carry out spring and autumn pruning of shoots, remove wilted flowers.
Resistance to diseases such as powdery mildew and black spot is high. However, as a precautionary measure, it is recommended to plant these plants in open areas where air circulation quickly dries the leaves from moisture, reducing the risk of disease.
Advantages of the Tchaikovsky variety: delicate color and ancient shape of flowers, high resistance to diseases.
Disadvantages: flowers fly around quickly, poor resistance to rain.
Tchaikovsky is a lovely delicate rose that will add warmth and comfort to your garden. The most delicate rose in soft creamy tones resembles old roses in the shape of a flower and dense doubleness. It is perfect for single planting, landscaping, flower beds and a small rose garden. It blends harmoniously in creamy coffee tones with varieties such as 'Lavender Pinocchio', 'Pride and Prejudice', 'Cafe', 'Honey Dijon', 'Tom Brown' and 'Creme Caramel'. You can also highlight the tenderness of the flowers with a light pink tint of varieties such as' Aphrodite ','Koko loko', ‘New Dawn’, ‘Larissa’ and ‘Abraham darby'. And you can add contrast to this variety with lavender, sage, ‘Rhapsody in blue', ‘Blue for you'and ‘Rosarium Uetersen'.
Remember that for growing roses in the garden, it is necessary to take into account a number of the following factors: features of the geographical location of the site, the illumination of the planting area, the type and composition of the soil, the climatic conditions of the area, the water balance and the level of groundwater.
The names are synonyms of the Tchaikovsky variety: Maggie, Tchaikovski, Tschaikowski.
It is already the third year that Tchaikovsky has been in my garden. In terms of resistance to diseases, it is exactly the same. Hibernates under lutrasil and spruce branches. There are no complaints about wintering, a very unpretentious variety. Grows with me next to Abraham Derby and Blue River.
I want to add my companions to Tchaikovsky. Girls, does anyone have Andre Le Notre growing in the garden? According to the description and photographs, I fell in love with her, very tender. And now I think how these two varieties will be combined if roses with sunny Michelangelo flowers are planted to them? Florists, gardeners, give advice! Or should you just try ?!
This wonderful rose has been growing in my garden for several years. Was my pride, as it bloomed magnificently and for a long time. I gave her the best sunny piece of land in my rose garden, and she made me happy every summer. The bush grew powerful, I had to prune it. In winter, she covered it with spruce branches. I will not say that it easily endured the winter in the Ivanovo region, it happened that the shoots were quite damaged, they had to be cut off, but in the summer it again gave new powerful shoots. But somehow I decided to cover it for the winter not with spruce branches, as usual, but used sawdust. And I think it ruined her, because the sawdust got wet and then froze. Rose is dead. This was my mistake, since then I have never used sawdust to hide roses. I dream of planting this rose again, but I have not yet met it on sale.
I love white roses! I grew many different ones, but this variety is my favorite. Flowers are always beautiful - from yellow-green buds to a fully open flower of the color of "milk with honey". There are always a lot of flowers - a powerful bush can easily withstand such an amount. Flowering is long, but has a clearly defined dormant period (perhaps this is only for me - maybe I am sinning with incorrect pruning). The rose hibernates not badly - I will not say that for 5, but for a solid 4, of course with shelter. I have only one drawback - the flowers fade and crumble very quickly, but on the other hand, this is for the better - I love roses in the stage of dissolution.
