Rose Eiffel tower
The combination of an attractive appearance and a dizzy aroma - this is what people first of all pay attention to when choosing a variety of roses for their own flower garden. And for them, it is very important that the acquired perennial is distinguished by an abundance of flowering. All these features are characteristic of the variety with the romantic name of the Eiffel Tower.
History of creation
Despite the French flavor in the name, this culture is native to North America. There, namely in the States, she was bred by the breeder Swim. The year of the appearance of the variety is 1963. The plant also has a different name: Eiffelturm - however, it is used less often than the main one. In the year of its appearance, the culture was awarded gold awards at flower contests in Switzerland (Geneva) and Italy (Rome).
Description of the variety
The Eiffel tower looks very sophisticated - as befits a true Parisian woman. This concerns rosebuds, which have a pointed shape of a tall glass and are painted in a delicate pink color. At the base, the petals are slightly yellowish. The size of a graceful flower is about 12 cm. Each bud consists of 35-40 oblong petals. As it blooms, the shade of the flower becomes lilac. But on the reverse side, the flower petals are painted in a darker saturated tone. The dense double flowers of this plant are incredibly fragrant, which makes the beautiful fragrant buds similar to a bottle of French perfume. According to many rose growers, the smell of this tea hybrid is the sweetest and most intense in comparison with other representatives of this group of flowers.
Let's move on to other features of the Eiffel Tower variety. The tea hybrid grows as a tall (up to 150 cm), vigorous, erect bush with strong, sturdy stems and dark green, large, glossy oval leaves. The sturdy shoots of the rose, strewn with delightful flowers, do not bend or break. By the way, buds are formed on each stem one by one. The abundant flowering of the variety lasts until the very autumn frosts. In place of the faded buds, new ones appear in a short time, so that the plant during the growing season cannot be without flowers, which, moreover, stay on the bush for a long time.
Eiffel tower has good winter hardiness and sufficient immunity to powdery mildew and black spot. The flowers are little afraid of rain, but in summer they fade in the sun, acquiring a lighter color in tone.
Features of agricultural technology
The best way to place a rose is in a sunny place. A perennial develops well in partial shade. But it is not recommended to plant it in the shade, otherwise the flowers will turn out to be of poor quality, or the plant will not bloom at all.
During the period of active growth, the Eiffel Tower must be carefully looked after. It should be watered with enviable regularity, it is necessary to periodically apply fertilizers under the flower, the soil in the zone of the trunk circle should be loosened from time to time, if desired, it should also be mulched to preserve moisture in the substrate. Weeding will not be superfluous. Several times per season, the shrub must be sprayed with aqueous solutions of fungicides and insecticides. This is especially important when growing a perennial in a region with a damp climate - in such conditions, the flower is more susceptible to fungal diseases and can be damaged by insects.
Considerable attention should be paid to feeding the rose. In the spring, nitrogen fertilizers are applied under the crop (shop or ordinary slurry). When buds are formed on the shrub and after flowering, preference is given to mineral concentrates. Organic top dressing is carried out after watering, mineral dressing can be combined with the soil moistening procedure. Also, be sure to trim the Eiffel tower. The spring activity is to remove sick, weak and old shoots, and perform it during the awakening of the kidneys. In the fall, all branches are shortened, but this must be done before the onset of stable autumn frosts. To prepare the Eiffel Tower for winter, after pruning it is spud up to a height of 30 cm with dry soil with sand. The culture should be covered with spruce branches.
Use cases
Luxurious shrubs when cultivated in open ground can be placed both alone and as part of group compositions. In the first case, the rose will look good against the background of decorative deciduous perennials. Also, the foreground of the site will be a suitable place for a tea hybrid in the garden. If we talk about the combination with other plants, then the most harmonious are the combinations of the owner of rose buds with evergreen crops, with cereals and herbs. But even with other flowering annuals and perennials, our heroine looks great. For this reason, the variety is appropriate in flower beds, in mixborders, as part of hedges. It is used to divide the site into zones, to decorate gazebos and garden paths.
The Eiffel Tower can also be viewed as a cut-off culture. Its flowers stand in water for a long time - up to two weeks, retaining their original freshness. The use of sophisticated rosebuds for floristic purposes allows you to create delightful bouquets that will be a great gift for any occasion.
