Apple variety Stroyevskoe
Stroyevskoe is a winter apple variety with absolute resistance to scab (Vf gene), obtained in 1982 at the All-Russian Research Institute for Breeding of Fruit Crops through sowing seeds of the 1981 harvest (814 - free pollination). In 1991, the beginning of fruiting was recorded. In 1995, the seedling was allocated to the elite for high-quality fruits. The new variety was created by a group of domestic breeders: E.N. Sedov, E.A. Dolmatov, Z.M. Serova and V.V. Zhdanov.
The apple tree entered the State test in 1998 in the region of the Central, Central Black Earth and Lower Volga regions. Zoned in 2001. At the exhibition "Revival of the Russian Village", held in October 1999 at the Exhibition and Fair Complex "VDNH-EXPO", the Stroyevskoye variety was awarded 2 awards - a Gold Medal and a Diploma.
The trees are medium in size, with fast growth rates, the crown is medium thickened, with a wide pyramidal shape. The bark on the trunk and main branches with a smooth surface, gray in color. Fruiting is of a mixed type: fruits are tied on ringlets and spears.
Shoots are medium in thickness, brown in color, with intense pubescence, in shape - faceted, geniculate, with an arcuate curvature. Lentils are small in size, rarely found on the shoot. The buds are appressed, pubescent, conical in shape. The leaves are large in size, light green in color with the addition of a yellowish tinge, oblong, elongated-ovoid, their tips are long-pointed, twisted helically. On the surface, the leaf blade is wrinkled, glossy, with coarse venation, concave in shape, with a downward curvature. The edges of the leaves are wavy, with a large crenate serration. Petioles are medium in length, thick, fleecy.
Inflorescences of corymbose type, each containing from 4 to 6 flowers. White-pink buds. The flowers are medium in size, flat in shape, the petals are unclosed, rounded, pink in color with the addition of more brightly colored veins. Pedicels are medium in length; stigmas of pistils are at the same level with anthers. The accrete column of pistils is not pubescent.
In terms of size, the fruits of the Stroevskoe apple tree are usually medium, less often large (the average apple weight is 110 - 120 g, the maximum weight is not higher than 170 - 180 g), their shape is conical, moderately flattened, slightly oblique, the ribbing is hardly noticeable. The skin on the surface is smooth, with a glossy sheen, practically without wax deposits. At the moment of ripening the apples are greenish-yellow in the main color, during the period of consumption they are golden-yellow. The cover color is expressed on most of the fruit with merging stripes and a blurred reddish-crimson blush. Numerous large subcutaneous dots of light gray color are clearly visible on the skin of apples. Peduncles of medium thickness, short, straight, set at an angle. The funnel is rather narrow, sharp-conical in shape, with a slight rustiness. Closed cup. The saucer is medium in size, narrow, grooved. The heart has a turnip shape. Seed chambers are closed. The sub-cup tube is medium in length, wedge-shaped. Seeds are light brown in color, narrow, conical in shape.
The pulp of ripe fruits is white (in unripe apples it has a greenish tint) and has a dense, coarse-grained structure, the taste is very juicy, sweet and sour (with a clear predominance of sweetness), with a moderate aroma. The external attractiveness of the fruit is assessed on a 5-point tasting scale of 4.5 points, and the palatability is marked by an assessment of 4.4 points. By chemical composition, the fruits contain: sugar (9.0%), titratable acids (0.52%), ascorbic acid (8.7 mg / 100 g), P-active substances (433 mg / 100 g). First of all, this is a variety for table purposes, but it is also used for various preparations (juices, jam, etc.). The transportability of apples is high.
The period of removable ripeness of fruits in the conditions of the Oryol region falls around the middle of September (usually in the interval from the 15th to the 20th). The consumption period does not start immediately, a month after picking up (from October 15).Without special conditions, apples remain fresh until mid-late February (often until the 20th).
Apple-tree Stroevskoe is fruitful. The average yield of young 8-11-year-old trees in the period from 1994 to 1997 was 117 c / ha. For comparison: according to the control variety Antonovka the usual yield indicator for this period reached 67 c / ha. However, early maturity is not too high, quite often trees begin to bear fruit only from the 7th year after planting, the earliest - in the 4th - 5th year.
The frost resistance of the variety is relatively high. Under the conditions of artificial freezing, carried out under the supervision of S.V. Rezvyakova in January at a temperature of minus 40 ° C, freezing of the buds was 1.2 points, and of the wood of the shoots - 1.6 points. The bark and cambium were not frozen.
The obvious advantages of the Stroyevskoe apple tree are very beautiful fruits of dessert taste and their high commercial characteristics, as well as immunity to scab.
On low-growing interstitial rootstocks (134 and 3-17-38), the variety is suitable for intensive gardening.
I can say a lot about Stroevskoye and only good words (well, almost). The apples are very beautiful - bright, with a pleasant gloss, when fully ripe they are tasty, juicy and, what is especially pleasant, this ripeness comes after the New Year, that is, the apples are perfectly stored without losing their marketable qualities. Apples are of a good medium size - there are no small or giants, the whole crop consists of even and approximately equal fruits. Trees with excellent immunity - they can withstand both our frosts and long thaws, and many diseases do not "stick" to them. I just don't like the fact that the plants sway for a long time - apple trees take a long time to bear fruit, and at a young age the yield is not happy (I solved this problem for myself by grafting - this way the first harvest appears faster).
