Pear variety Allegro
Allegro is a pear of summer ripening period, for dining purposes. Bred at the All-Russian Research Institute of Genetics and Breeding of Fruit Plants named after V.I. Michurin and zoned (included in the State Register) in the Central Black Earth Region in 2002. Such well-known practicing scientists as S.S. Yakovlev, S.P. Yakovleva, Yu.K. Ilyin.
The variety is represented by a fast-growing tree with a slightly saggy crown of medium size. The fusion of skeletal branches is strong. The crop is formed both on pods, spears, fruit twigs, and on annual growths, that is, a mixed type of fruiting takes place.
Shoots are light brown with few lentils. Leaves are medium, ovate, with a pointed tip and serrated serrated edges, dark green with shine. The petiole is of medium length.
The fruits of Allegro are of medium size, weighing 100 - 145 grams, have an elongated pear-shaped shape. The skin is soft and smooth. At the stage of removable maturity, the main color of the fruit is greenish, with a slight pink tan. Consumer maturity is expressed in a change in color to yellow-green, which is associated with a decrease in the amount of chlorophyll and the accumulation of yellow-colored pigments. The brown-raspberry tan is spread over a smaller part of the fruit. The ripening period is the first decade of August.
The peduncle is long, oblique. The funnel is shallow, the calyx is half-open, not falling, the saucer is very shallow. The heart is medium, oval. The seed chamber is closed. Seeds are elongated, brown.
The original variety from which Allegro is pollinated is a pear Autumn Yakovleva - a donor of such remarkable quality as the excellent taste of the fruit.
The pulp is fine-grained, white, sour-sweet, tender and very juicy, without signs of astringency. The plus is the complete absence of stony cells (granulations). Gardeners have fully appreciated the taste of this pear and unanimously call it “honey”, and the pulp “melting in your mouth”. The content of sugars in the pulp is 8.5%, titratable acids are only 0.59%, dry soluble substances - 15.1%, P-active substances - 48 mg / 100 g, ascorbic acid - 8 mg / 100 g. 4.5 points.
A positive quality can be the uneven ripening of fruits, which allows them to be used in the form of a dessert and for processing not immediately, but gradually. In the descriptions for the variety, it is stated that the consumption period is 15 days. However, it should be borne in mind that in this case the pears are carefully removed in a state of removable maturity, stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks and, when taken out of the cold, ripened for 1 - 3 days, bringing the fruits to consumer maturity.
The yield is high. For the period from 1999 to 2002, it was, on average, 162 c / ha, which is 55 c / ha higher than the control. The frequency of fruiting is poorly expressed. The pear is relatively fast-growing, it begins to delight the gardener with the first fruits for 5 - 6 years.
The admission region, according to the State Register, is the 5th, including the areas of the Central Black Earth Region. However, there are examples of successful cultivation in areas north of the specified - in the Kaluga, Tula regions, right up to Moscow. The degree of freezing of annual branches when the temperature drops to minus 38 ° C in the experiments of scientists was only 1.5 points. The Allegro variety is resistant to temperature fluctuations during thaws, as well as spring frosts.
Successful overwintering of the tree also depends on the weather conditions prevailing during the growing season. So, many gardeners note that a humid summer with a lack of heat does not make it possible to fully complete the preparation for the cold, as a result, both annual shoots and branches older than 2 years freeze in large quantities.
Sufficiently good genetic resistance to scab ensures the production of environmentally friendly products with good commercial qualities.
The variety is self-fertile. Needs pollinator companions. Which can be varieties with the same flowering and fruit formation (Chizhovskaya, August dew and etc.).
The advantages of the Allegro pear include: high winter hardiness, early maturity, resistance to fungal diseases.
By cons - a short period of consumption (only one week).
Delicious pear, very juicy. And outwardly beautiful - the very thing on the table. True, sweeter amateurs may not appreciate it. But in our family, everyone loves just these, which is called “with a taste of watermelon freshness,” so Allegro has been pleasing us with its presence on the site for ten years now.
