Pear variety Zabava

Zabava is an autumn pear variety of Belarusian selection. Obtained through crossing Alexandrovka with Clapp's favorite in RUE "Institute of Fruit Growing of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus". The authorship is assigned to G.M. Myalik et al.

The trees grow to medium size, the crown has a wide pyramidal shape, the foliage is medium. Fruit ovaries are most often formed on simple and complex ringlets, spears.

Fruits grow to medium size (one pear weighs on average 120 - 140 g, maximum fruit weight is about 160 g), regular wide pear-shaped or obovate. The skin is glossy, dry, with a rough surface and slight rustiness. At the moment of ripening, the fruits are colored greenish-yellow; during the period of consumer maturity, the main color of the fruits becomes golden-yellow. The cover color is expressed on a large part of the fruit through a solid brownish-red blush. Subcutaneous points are well-defined, gray in color, and are present on the skin in large numbers.

The pulp is of medium density, oily, medium aromatic, tender, juicy, colored white, tastes sour-sweet. On a 5-point tasting scale, the taste of Zabava pears is estimated at 4.6 points.

Removable ripeness of fruits occurs in the second decade of September. The total storage period does not exceed 3 weeks.

At the time of fruiting, trees enter the 5-6th year after planting in the garden. True, in the first years they bear fruit very modestly, slowly gaining yield. Mature trees bear fruit abundantly (up to 20 t / ha with a planting pattern of 6 × 4 m on a seed stock). The frequency of fruiting is not pronounced.

Winter hardiness is estimated at an average level. The variety is moderately resistant to fungal diseases (scab) and relatively resistant to bacterial diseases.

The following varieties are recognized as the best pollinators of Zabava: Bere Loshitskaya, Lyubimitsa autumn, Elegant Efimova.

While the real winter hardiness of this pear in different regions of Russia has not been clarified, amateur gardeners in the Middle Lane are advised to use grafting in the crown of the most hardy local varieties.

My Fun is already 20 years old. My father also sat down. At first there was a lot of fuss with her, for two years in a row she froze with us, but still it grew slowly. I had to wrap her up well for the winter. Now it pleases us with large and juicy sweet fruits, a little sour. The yield is different every year, then the blockage - we share with the neighbors, then only to ourselves, to feast on. Pears are not stored very well, but it does not matter, we eat most of them, and let the rest go into compotes and jams. I also like this variety for the fact that it is not affected by scab, the fruits are smooth and clean, despite the fact that next to the old apple tree is covered with scab.
