Cucumber variety Hector (F1)

Hector is a bee-pollinated hybrid of an ultra-early maturing cucumber, bred by breeders of Nunhems B.V. (Netherlands). Designed for open field cultivation over a large area. Suitable for mechanized harvesting. The period from germination to fruiting is 28 - 34 days. In 2002, the variety was included in the state register of the Russian Federation. Approved for cultivation in all regions of Russia.

Plants of a bush type, determinant (the growth of the main stem is limited by a flower race), very compact, predominantly female flowering type, up to 80 cm high. Leaves, dark green in color, medium in size. The first ovary is formed after 4 - 5 knots, there are many ovaries in the knot. Fruiting is amicable, abundant, lasts until August. Due to the compactness of the plants, they can be planted more often than usual. The bushes do not need shaping.

Zelentsy are cylindrical, ribbed, leveled, large-lumpy, weighing 95 - 100 grams, 10 - 12 cm long, 3 - 3.3 cm in diameter (length / diameter ratio - 3: 1). The skin is green, thin, with an intense waxy bloom. Sparse pubescence, white thorns. The pulp is dense, sweetish, without bitterness. The palatability of the fruit is high. Marketable yield is 4 kg / square meter.

The Hector variety tolerates thickening of plantings and short-term drops in temperature well. Resistant to common diseases, including powdery mildew, cucumber mosaic virus and brown spot (cladosporium). Tolerant to downy mildew. In maturation, the fruits do not turn yellow for a long time. Cucumbers not harvested in time do not outgrow (maximum grow up to 15 cm), but the skin on them becomes tough.
