Apple variety Dachnaya
For apple lovers who do not want to wait for autumn to taste their favorite fruit, the outstanding breeder L.A. Kotov created a summer variety called Dachnaya. The work was carried out at the Sverdlovsk Experimental Gardening Station. The late variety Isetskoe was taken as a basis, and Melba, Candy and Dream served as pollinators. And although this apple tree is not registered in the State Register of Plants of the Russian Federation, since it is still under state trials, it has taken root well and has become widespread in the regions of the Urals - Chelyabinsk, Tyumen, Kurgan and Sverdlovsk.
Description
The plant shows rapid growth at a young age. A mature tree is of medium size - the maximum height is 4 meters. A young tree Dachnoy has a wide-pyramidal crown, which is rounded with age. Skeletal branches are covered with gray-brown-yellow bark. Until the fruiting period of the apple tree, they are raised up, then, under the load of the crop, they take an almost horizontal position. The shoots of the variety are medium-thick, upright, faceted, covered with light pubescence, yellowish-brown in color. The leaves are simple, large, wide, bent downward along the central vein, with a serrated edge and subtle waviness, elongated-ovoid. The surface is matte, has a mesh venation. The color is light green. Petioles not long, stipules small, lanceolate. The flowers are white, collected in inflorescences. Fruiting occurs on last year's growth and ringlets - simple and complex.
The fruits of the apple tree are small - 95 - 110 grams, symmetrical, slightly ribbed. The shape is rounded-conical, slightly elongated, reminiscent of a barrel. The funnel is deep, narrow. The saucer is medium in depth and width, slightly folding. The skin is dry, smooth, slightly shiny. The main color is monochromatic, light yellow. The cover color is absent in the variety, with rare exceptions - sometimes a slight, weak raspberry tan appears on the sunny side, spreading over a small part of the fruit. The pulp is coarse-grained, rather loose, moderately juicy, creamy in color. The taste of the Dachnaya fruit is sweet and sour. Assessment of tasters - 4.1 points. 100 grams of pulp contains the following chemicals:
- dry soluble matter - 13.4%;
- the amount of sugars - 9.9%;
- titratable acids - on average 0.76%;
- ascorbic acid - an average of 18.4 mg;
- P-active substances (catechins) - an average of 260.3 mg.
Characteristics
- Dachnaya is a summer variety; in Yekaterinburg, the fruits ripen in the second half of August;
- fruiting occurs rather quickly - 4 - 5 years after budding;
- the yield is good - up to 12 - 16 kg of apples are removed from one tree. And according to some sources, up to 20 kg per tree;
- the apple tree has strong immunity. Leaves and fruits are resistant to the most common disease among fruit crops - scab;
- winter hardiness is high, taking into account the growing area, where winter temperatures drop to -25 ° C, and the snow cover is moderate;
- without loss of taste and marketability, the fruits of the Dachnaya can be stored for only about a month (which is not bad for a summer variety);
- Due to the friable pulp, transportation over long distances is not possible.
Pollinators
The apple tree is self-fertile. Therefore, to obtain a high-quality harvest, it is necessary to plant a suitable pollinator nearby. These include - Dreamer, Daughter of the rainbow, Bugler, Ural pink, Aksyona, Cigarette, Silver Hoof, Sunsedar or White Iset.
Agrotechnics
Taking into account the growing region, it is best to plant seedlings in early spring, before the buds begin to swell.Choose a place that is sunny and dry, the distance to the nearest neighbors is at least three meters. Dig and fill the planting hole in the fall. In order to increase the yield of the variety and control diseases, it is necessary to carry out pruning on time. For Dachnaya, it is recommended to maintain a height of no more than 3 meters.
Watering is carried out taking into account the precipitation. It is important to keep the soil moderately moist. Nitrogen fertilizers are preferable in spring, when there is an enhanced shoot formation. In areas with harsh climates, it is important to properly prepare the apple tree for winter. To restore the balance of nutrients and increase frost resistance, you need to add phosphorus-potassium fertilizers. As a mulching material, you can use humus or rotted manure, which is used to close the trunk circle in October or November.
The main advantages of Dachnaya are good winter hardiness, scab resistance and a quick entry into the fruiting period. But, unfortunately, these apples are not suitable for storage, as they have loose flesh.
