In the gardens of Russians, and not only, varieties of fruit trees of the so-called folk selection are very popular. These plants are perfectly adapted to the growing region. Among self-sowing seedlings, amateur gardeners identified the variety Pink filling, which was included in the State Register of Plants of the Russian Federation in 1959, after a ten-year trial. FSBSI "All-Russian Institute of Selection and Technology of Horticulture and Nursery" ensures the safety of this apple tree, but at the same time is not a patent holder. Pink filling is often confused with an old variety that comes from the territory of modern Estonia, which is called Suislepskoe. There is information that among gardeners it is also called Robinovka, because of a similar color.

Description

The trees are small, about 2.5 - 3 meters high. The trunk of the apple tree is powerful. The crown is compact. It is often narrow-pyramidal in shape, thickened above average. Over time, the crown can acquire the shape of a pyramid with a wide base. This is due to the fact that the main branches acquire an almost horizontal position, departing from the trunk at a right angle. Shoots and fruit formations grow frequently and evenly. The internodes are short. Annual shoots are not very thick, have a slight pubescence, the bark is painted in a dark burgundy color, the lentils are small and light. Leaves alternately arranged, slightly curving downward, oval or ovate, with a pointed tip, serrated edge and slight pubescence. Color from bright to dark green (on old leaves). The venation is reticulate. Fruiting of Pink Bulg occurs on last year's growths, spears and ringlets. The peduncle is short, slightly curved, of medium thickness.

The fruits are of medium size. Their usual weight is 120 grams, the maximum is slightly more - 150 grams. The shape is rounded-conical, sometimes slightly flattened, the surface is slightly ribbed, almost smooth. The funnel is deep and narrow. The saucer is shallow, relatively narrow, with slight folds. The skin is not too thick, smooth, glossy. The main color is light green or white. On half or most of the surface, a cover color appears in the form of a blurred striped crimson blush (which is why the apple tree received the second "popular" name - Malinovka). Often the fruits are covered with a bluish bloom. The pulp is snow-white, juicy, aromatic, contains a large amount of pectins. The consistency is fine-grained (this is also called sugar), dense. The taste is very good, sweet and sour, with a lemonade aftertaste.

Characteristics

• Variety of summer consumption period. Apples ripen in late July - early August;
• the apple tree enters the fruiting period quite early - 3 or 4 years after planting;
• despite the small growth, the yield of the Pink filling is striking in its generosity - up to 50 kg of delicate pink fruits can be removed from an adult tree. According to some reports - up to 80 kg;
• life span - 35 - 40 years;
• the apples are quite tight on the branch, they do not crumble even when they are fully ripe. Moreover, they are resistant to sunburn;
• one of the main advantages of the variety is its immunity, which allows it to resist well the main disease - scab. But, according to gardeners, in rainy weather, leaves can suffer from it, and fruit rot can affect the fruits. Of the harmful insects, you need to beware of the moth;
• the variety is very resistant to adverse conditions. It perfectly tolerates frosts at -32 ° C, according to some reports, even -42 ° C will not cause any damage to the tree.In addition, the apple tree is quite drought-resistant, therefore it easily tolerates dry, hot summers, when the temperature rises to + 40 ° С;
• transportability is not very high. But the harvest of Pink Bulk can be stored until October, provided suitable conditions are provided;
• the way of eating fruits is universal. Apples are good in their natural form; light dessert salads are prepared from the pulp. The harvest is processed into jams, fruit purees, mousses. Juices, wine, cider are prepared.

The folk variety is very unpretentious. To soils, Pink filling is especially unpretentious, although it grows much more readily on nutritious and light loams. The place for planting is chosen sunny, but a light partial shade will not prevent the tree from tying a good harvest. Spring and autumn are equally suitable for planting, but you need to plant on time. In the spring - until the sap flow began. In autumn - about 2 weeks before the onset of persistent cold weather. The distance between large neighbors is about 4 meters.

Rapid shoot growth requires annual thinning pruning. The soil under the tree should be moderately moist, but the plant will survive a dry period.
