Legend is an early winter variety obtained at the Moscow Institute of Horticulture by Professor Kichina V.V in 1982 during the hybridization of varieties ‘Lingonberry'and' Fuji '.
The tree is small, reaching a height of 3 meters. Has a rounded, dense, compact crown and shortened internodes of annual thickened shoots. Shoots of medium size, round, gray, glabrous, compactly located.
The leaves are small, ovoid, smooth, dark green in color.
The frost resistance of the Legend variety is good. The apple tree's resistance to pests and diseases is high. Drought resistance is average.
The variety is fast-growing. The first fruits appear already at the 2nd year of the tree's life. In 5 - 7 years, the tree begins to give a full harvest.
Ring-type fruiting, annual, but with fluctuations in yield from year to year.
The fruits ripen in early October. Possessing sufficient keeping quality, they are stored until January.
The yield is high and very high. With standard agricultural technology, it reaches 100 kg per tree or 30 - 40 t / ha.
The fruits of the Legend apple tree are large and very large, reach a weight of 200 g and more, have the shape of a truncated cone, slightly ribbed. All apples are uniform in shape and size.
The stalks are of medium thickness and medium size, the saucer is not very wide, the calyx is half-open or open. The funnel is deep, slightly rusty. Seeds are medium and large, brown in color.
The main color is greenish yellow. The cover color of apples is deep red, occupies almost the entire surface. Darker, very short stripes are rarely scattered over the surface of the fruit. There are many well-visible integumentary points. The skin is smooth, dense, shiny.
The taste is sweet, caramel, dessert type. The aroma is strong. The flesh is creamy, grainy, very juicy, of a chipping type. The tasting score of the fruit is 4.2 points.

It was necessary to update the orchard, we bought several seedlings of apple trees of unknown varieties. One of them was the Legend. Three years after planting, they received the first fruits. I liked the taste very much. After a few years, they were able to evaluate the keeping quality. In October, they removed the fruits from the tree and, including January, enjoyed the apples. They were stored on a heated terrace in boxes on the floor near the door. Even the skin of the fruit did not shrink. But apples of this variety like not only us. Birds also like to eat with these fruits.
